14.01.2022 Planning is underway for the WD Motorsport Holden Astra Team for 2021

14.01.2022 The Family that Rallies Together, Stays Together Greg and Petra White have always been motorsport fans and had even done some track days, but always burning in... the background was a desire to do some sort of tarmac rallying. When they heard about the WD Motorsport Touring Supersprint which gives newcomers a chance to drive on some of the country’s most spectacular roads, closed to traffic, they jumped at it. Knowing that the road is closed to traffic and it’s a safe environment, with the right people behind you, as well as getting access to coaching, it’s great, Greg said. While Greg enjoys his time behind the wheel, Petra has also jumped on board as navigator. When Greg did the first one, our son came with us and so I didn’t do that one, Petra said. The second time our son decided he didn’t want to come, so I jumped in the car and never got out! Having a child certainly hasn’t put the brakes on the couple’s tarmac rallying aspirations. The RACESOLUTIONS Motorsport team run day care so Michael, their seven year old son can come along, while they are in the car. He’s a bit like us, he doesn’t want to leave. He enjoys the cars, loves being with the other kids and being out and about enjoying organised activities, swimming in creeks, making boats, doing treasure hunts they really look after the kids. While Greg and Petra are now looking to progress from the Tour to Competition, they have fond memories of ‘learning the ropes’ There is a tour leader and some driver trainers, and they’re on the roads with you, so you can ask them questions, get them to teach you the right lines, Petra said. I’ve got behind one of the tour leaders, following him basically down the road, staying three or four seconds behind, Greg added. From there I really got to see where the car should be positioned for the corner and where to brake, it all helps and gives you confidence to be able to drive. For anyone thinking of getting involved, Petra and Greg have some encouraging advice. There’s no pressure to have to go fast, Petra said. You’re encouraged to drive at the speed you feel comfortable to drive at. Safety is the main thing, added Greg. The biggest goal for everyone is to have fun, be safe and finish. We’re encouraged to ask questions. They’re a great bunch of people that know a lot about motorsport and race cars themselves. After a few years of learning the ropes, it seems this husband and wife combination have found a sport that’s perfect for them. It’s been pretty good so far, Greg said. It’s great to have your wife in the car because of the trust. She puts a lot of trust in me. I don’t know if I could sit in the silly seat and do it to be honest! We always went into it with an open mind to have fun it’s not about being the fastest on the day or anything like that. Having the right attitude really helps to have a great weekend. 13.01.2022 Farewell Holden

13.01.2022 Track Days Launched

08.01.2022 At WD Motorsport we are starting to rebuild our production cars for some outings in 2019! Chassis WD17 has a long history first winning its class at Bathurst with Stephen Richards & Greg Murphy in 2000 under the Gibson Motorsport banner, then a class Australian Production Championship win with Luke Youlden in 2001. Finally under the MDR Holden Astra Team banner it won its class for an Australian Production Championship & won the Bathurst 2 Hour Show Room Show Down race for... Production Cars outright and in its Class in 2002. Finally it ended up on its roof at the Clipsal 500 nearly landing in the Ford Corporate Box at the hairpin in 2003. It was sent to Go Tafe for a rebuild to the point it sits today. With no parts or money for the 2nd car the project was shelved. After Clipsal that year, 2003, the team did a quick turn around to get to the Symmons Plains Round of the PROCAR Championship transferring all the running gear into the freshly rebuilt Ferrier/Kelly Chassis from 2000. Now the WD16 Chassis. That chassis WD16 was rolled by Jim McKinnon in 2001 at the Phillip Island Procar Champ Series and was rebuild by the apprentices at GO Tafe for MDR to within 5 mm of original spec. That story next time!

08.01.2022 Holden Astra Chassi A01 after 10 years of rest is being reassembled by WD Team Driver Graham Crawford in Production Car spec. WD Motorsport had to buy another car to make up enough parts to complete the project.

07.01.2022 unfortunately due to Targa Florio we will not be running the HQ 4 Hour this year.

[email protected] **2019 ATRC Calendar** Mount Baw Baw Sprint February 23 and 24, 2019 Lake Mountain Sprint March 23 and 24, 2019 Snowy River Sprint September 21 and 22, 2019 Great Tarmac Rally October 12 and 13, 2019 **KEY QUOTES:** **Drive Against Depression Co-Founder, Sarah Davis** Connecting with Mountain Motorsports and the WD Tour is a perfect fit for Drive Against Depression’s charitable endeavours. It builds naturally from our community road drives, where we provide a supportive, judgement-free environment for people to discuss the impact mental illnesses can have on lives. We’ve discovered that a passion for cars is a fantastic ice breaker, leading to deeper conversations about personal mental health journeys. On the pilot events in 2018, the WD Tour allowed us to cast our message to a wider audience, with lots of time to chat between exciting tarmac rally stages. It reinforced how cathartic cars and driving can be. **WD Motorsport co-owner, Stephen Whyte** WD Motorsport is proud to be associated with Drive Against Depression and its partners. WD was born from two great friends getting together to enjoy the competition and camaraderie of motorsport. It was a progression from racing ourselves to event management and our experience with driver training is a great fit for educating our Tour entrants. The weekend is as much about having fun with like-minded people as it is about the cars and the wonderful roads we utilise. AASA’s enthusiasm for the sport creates a fantastic environment, and we’re looking forward to a fantastic future with DAD. **Head of Mountain Motorsports, Peter Washington** Mountain Motorsports and the ATRC are committed to increasing mental health awareness through motorsport. We are pleased to support both DAD and WD Motorsport on an on-going basis. The WD Tour and complementary activities run by DAD within our events further signifies the potential of this partnership, and our commitment to it. **RACESOLUTIONS Motorsport Clerk of Course, Martin Doxey** Mt Baw Baw Resort is an exciting venue for the third round of the 2018-19 ATRC, and we are honoured to partner with DAD to deliver this unique motoring experience. Baw Baw boasts the steepest tarmac incline in Australia and really challenges drivers and navigators, especially on the longer runs. This year there’s a prime opportunity for spectators to engage with our world, with a prime view from the Mount Baw Baw turnoff. It promises to be a fantastic event for the community as well as the crews. **Australian Auto Sports Alliance Chair, Bruce Robertson** The AASA is pleased to acknowledge the foresight and sheer hard work that Mountain Motorsports and RACESOLUTIONS have put into developing this championship. Moreover, seeing the WD Tour component evolve into a space where vehicles can be enjoyed in a safe, controlled environment has been very satisfying. "The WD Tour allows participation at an event that has supervision, mentoring and a culture of safety as keystone requirements. The fact it supports the Drive Against Depression charity is icing on the cake. Via the assistance and co-operation of authorities, the AASA is pleased to sanction such a well-planned event, one that stands for the enjoyment of motoring. **About Drive Against Depression** Drive Against Depression is a registered Australian mental health charity with full Deductible Gift Recipient status. Created in 2017, Drive Against Depression achieves increased mental health awareness, particularly relating to depression and anxiety, through a shared enthusiasm for motoring. Through hosting regular community-focused motoring events, Drive Against Depression provides a platform for those affected by depression and anxiety to start their conversation in a judgement-free environment. In 2019, Drive Against Depression is developing a virtual mental wellness project that will align a range of health professionals to individuals in need.
