25.01.2022 Hi all, please read the following. And feedback is welcomed as it is you the players that this impacts on. WD 2020 Special message to all committee members and other interested parties.... In view of recent pronouncements on the pandemic of Covid-19, it is right that we look at what we can do to help ensure that our sport/competition can also survive over the next few months. These comments by Terry Hunter (VP) reflect my own thoughts over the past couple of weeks... I think for safety reasons we should send out a blanket email to all players etc to cease shaking hands due to Coronavirus. We play a sport of gentlemen and would normally regard a refusal to shake hands as an affront to how we do things. However, these are not normal times. It isn't the shaking of hands that is the problem (our skin resists the virus), just putting our hands near our face to transfer the virus. I also feel that we should permit teams to have more players registered in case they don't turn up because of suspicion of infection or self-quarantine. We need to be highly flexible about this. In particular, older players might prefer to stay at home due to increased risk. We may yet find that specific venues place restrictions on scheduled matches. These may need to be deferred. Extraordinary times, and we'd not want to see matches postponed or even cancelled. I'm seeking urgent feedback and general approval of steps your committee deems appropriate. Cheers JC

23.01.2022 Dear WDBSA Members, We would love to hear your thoughts. With each day, we draw closer to the restart of WDBS. Having given this some thought we have come to the conclusion that the sensible option is to complete the already commenced Autumn season. With this being the preferred option we have listed the following reasons. A. There will Snooker & Billiards participation in all 3 grades. ... B. There is no need to re-form team structures. C. There is no need to re-work h'caps. D. Virtually we just need a restart date to get us going. E. We may even be able to fit in a presentation night. What’s your thoughts? Please let us know as your thoughts matter.. Watch for an update on the website https://www.wdbsa.com.au And here on Facebook. Cheers Graham Douglas Publicly Officer.

18.01.2022 What a fantastic night of Snooker and Billiards as the Division 3 teams went at it at Blacktown Workers in both a teams event and also the Champion of Champions. In the teams event Wenty Leagues No1 took a 5 point lead into week 2 over 2nd placed Rooty Hill No2 with Seven Hills RSL sitting in 3rd place another 21 points further back. It looked to be a 2 horse race until the Seven Hills RSL Team came roaring home in the 2nd week matches to take it down to the wire where the f...inal result came down to the last frame of the competition. In the end it was a well deserved win for the Wenty Leagues No1 team finishing on a total of 846 points. Seven Hills RSL finished a heartbreaking 2nd on 842 points with Rooty Hill No2 taking third on 790 points. The locals Blacktown Workers finished 4th on 646 points followed by Rooty Hill No1 on 643 and Wenty Leagues No2 on 620. The players had a great time and were super excited to see this short form of the game return in 2021 maybe to be held 2 or 3 times throughout the year. In Champion of Champions action we seen Blacktown Workers David Battensby take on Rooty Hills Mika Viafale in the Billiards final where Mika ran out the winner in an epic match. The Snooker title was another classic match with a strong win to Abdul Gohari from Blacktown Workers against Anson To from Rooty Hill. Special thanks to Steve Fabian for all your hard work getting this competition up and running, all the players really appreciate it. So as Steve would say folks, Don’t forget to follow through.... 13.01.2022 Some news from tonight’s Captains meeting at Blacktown Workers. After a discussion with all that attended it was decided not to run the remainder of the WD competition as the limited time available was not enough to get sufficient rounds in. A decision was reached that Division 3 teams would complete in a test event over 2 Thursday nights, possibly the 12th and 19th of November pending the approval of the parent clubs who nominated to hold such events being Workers, Wenty a...nd Rooty Hill. This event will be a Shootout event run over 20 mins with a shot clock being used for a final portion of the allotted time consisting of both snooker and billiards. Details will be finalized and sent to all Division 3 captains ASAP. Teams confirmed so far are Seven Hills, Wenty 1 and 2 and Rooty Hill. We require confirmation from Dooleys, Guildford 1and 2 so if you are part of one of these teams ask your captain to contact Steve Fabian ASAP. This promises to be both a fun and exciting event with further expansion in the future for all divisions so get behind it and give it a go. See more

11.01.2022 Attention all Division 3 Captains and players. Don’t forget to update you teams handicaps after the first week’s competition. It’s quite simple with the plus and minus system. If a player won 2-0 in their snooker match, that player will have -5 applied to his handicap. So and example would be. Handicap of -5 would move to -10. Or a handicap of +10 would go to +5. On the other end of the scale, a player who looses 2-0 would have +5 added to their handicap. So a -5 player ...would go to 0 or a +5 handicap would go to +10. Players having a 1-1 draw have no handicap adjustment. The same process applies to Div 3 Billiards except it is a +10 and -10 which is applied for wins and losses. It is very important that team captains make sure handicaps are adjusted each week. Failure to do so will result in competition points being lost if a player plays with the wrong handicap. Happy Cueing. See more

11.01.2022 Dooleys Division 3 Update. With basically a new team to WD competition, it has beef great to see the improvement in our players. Mustafa Alizada has managed to in 4 of his 6 frames so far this season after struggling in the local Dooleys comp which is very encouraging. Ishwor P has up the stakes with his game learning that safety an important part of competitive snooker and has now picked up a few handy wins over some good opponents. The surprise for Dooleys has been the e...fforts put in by Sandesh Lama and Divesh Malla in their first ever Billiards competition games. Although both players suffered narrow losses, they really enjoyed the challenge and look forward to taking the billiards challenge again in coming weeks. Sayed H has shown some good form and has picked up some handy frame wins in the first four weeks. Keep up the good work team. Toan. Dooleys Captain See more
