02.01.2022 Hello friends! Long post, but if you're an animal lover, please keep reading! I'm wanting to put this out there to help an amazing local pet rescue organisation my family has fostered for.... Illawarra Lost and Found Pets - Rescue, save surrendered and stray animals, young and old, rehoming them once they've been health checked/vaccinated, desexed, and loved to the point where they trust humans again. Sadly, so many people simply don't desex their animals and spring/summer is frustratingly known as 'kitten season'. Illawarra Lost and Found Pet Rescue needs foster carers now, who can help to look after these sweet little kittens, until they're old enough to be desexed (generally around two months (or 1kg weight). Animals are not released for adoption until they are desexed (and obviously in excellent health). There is no cost to foster carers other than providing cat food and kitty litter, and the occassional car ride to vet appoinments. It's also an amazing experience for children, who learn to handle and look after incredibly vulnerable, tiny animals. I highly recommend it to families! Actually, I just highly recommend it to everyone! Even if you can't foster, this organisation would be very grateful for donations of kitten food, and paper based kitty litter (clumping litter is a bit dangerous for them - they sometimes try to eat it), or even just cash donations to help them help their foster carers.
