24.01.2022 Friday feelings. The bikes are coming back to Weldborough. The sun was out yesterday and that was enough to see the motorbikes out for a run over the Sideling, through the Weldborough pass and over the Tier to St Helens. With a pit stop on the way at the Weldborough. Always a joy to see the quality and range of bikes that are ridden - these were courtesy of the British Motor Cycle Club of Tasmania (with a BMW and Moto Guzzi as ring-ins, but we won't say any more about that).
23.01.2022 Due to work on the kitchen the pub will be closed on Wednesday
22.01.2022 And just like that we are open

18.01.2022 It has been 6 months, almost to the day, that we shut down the pub - after the lunch service on Friday, 20 March. We are so pleased to announce that we are reopening the pub on Friday 18 September from 11 am. We will be back to full operations and opening from 11am till close 7 days a week. In addition to the bar service, we will be open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week until throughout the school holidays. The hotel accommodation and the campground will be open as well. Please stay tuned for more information over the next few days.
18.01.2022 What a difference a day makes. It was wet and cool today, a contrast to yesterday. That means there was good news and bad news. The good news? We had more than 30 riders do the Blue Tier today. That's the most since we reopened and it was so good to see the pub starting to fill again. The bad news? See photos below.
16.01.2022 Yesterday was reopening day. What a day and what a sight. First campers back to the pub. Want to know what struck us the most? The sound of the kids laughing as they played totem tennis and chased each other around the grounds. It's been a long time. And it sounds so damn fine.
15.01.2022 8 ball night tonight. Please count the number of red balls remaining on the table after the black ball has been sunk by the team from the Bay Inn. Be fair to say #cantplaycandrink should be our motto. Also fair to say that the video footage of what happened next should never be seen by human eyes. Captain Percey strikes again.
14.01.2022 Come along to the Chook Run this Friday! We have moved the race so you can catch some live music from Clinton Hutton. Also, make sure you come hungry as we have a delicious spit roast and paella for dinner.
13.01.2022 2 important posts coming up. First, the 2 year anniversary of the new ownership of the pub was last week on the 12th of October. More importantly, the 13th October was the 2 year anniversary of Tyson and Ally's wedding. They returned to the pub over the weekend and it was great to see them smiling and happy. That day 2 years ago remains vivid in my memory for several reasons: how beautiful the bride looked; how Tyson ruined it for all future grooms after composing and then ...singing a song he composed himself for the occasion; how the beer garden was made for larger groups and the atmosphere created by large groups in the pub (we can hold hope for the future); and how nervous I was that I would hold the shortest liquor licence ever granted in Tasmania given the number of police officers that attended the wedding. Turned out there was nothing to worry about - everyone remained under 0.05 and drank plenty of water all night. See the before and after photos below See more
12.01.2022 Looking forward to Friday
11.01.2022 Well Terri, we waz closed. Now, we iz open. If you bring "me" into the bar as well, we will shout you your first drink back. (Offer only available to the first 4 " Terri and me's" that come to the bar and announce themselves)
11.01.2022 This is an event that is not to be missed. Make sure you come along to Poetry in the Pub!
09.01.2022 Unfortunately we have had to postpone this lovely event. We will keep you updated regarding rescheduling Poetry at the Pub.
08.01.2022 Who's excited for Weld Fest tomorrow? https://www.facebook.com/events/578109026317771/
08.01.2022 Second post: it was a week later, and Alex and Lash had their wedding celebrations at the pub. Different use of the space and the celebrations continued over a couple of days. Some great memories and what a great group of people. The idea for WeldFest was spawned during the celebrations when 2 bands travelled down to play under the lean-to. And didn't the lean-to look different from when the axemen would hold their night chops through winter under the cover it provided.
07.01.2022 Happening TODAY at the Weldborough - come listen to Monique's amazing music as well as getting involved in some very important environmental efforts
06.01.2022 Made it through the first weekend of the school holidays. After 6 months closed, what could possibly go wrong? The bad news, kegs can let off steam. The good news, (particularly if you love Haze beer), Ryan has a new fragrance, "Alcoholics Delight"....certainly an attention grabber!
05.01.2022 Come along next Friday night to see Clinton Hutton live at the Weldbourgh Hotel! We are very excited that Clinton is joining us again for a night of wonderful live music.
04.01.2022 Don't forget to come along to the Chook Run this Friday! There will be live music, fabulous food, and prizes for the fastest chooks on bikes.
04.01.2022 The first ever WeldFest kicked off on Saturday last week, and we couldn't have been happier with the results! We had 7 Tassie bands (not all Tassie artists) and the music styles were diverse. Very diverse. There was the odd cover song, but all bands played original music and it was sensational to hear local talent singing original songs - certainly a real highlight for us. Isla Ka were first off and Frankie's voice was sublime. Johnny Danger and the Skull Kings were nex...t and "Everybody's Got a Little Middle Aged Man in Lycra" has to be the Weldborough equivalent of Smells Like Teen Spirit Avalanche are hard to describe but so cool to listen to and took us on a journey out there... somewhere The 308s - a late call up and totally lived up to their name. How 2 musicians can create that much sound has to be seen or heard to be believed. And it was heard...down in Pyengana..... Pete Cornelius was next up and how good were they? Although they had warmed up on different instruments a little earlier, Johnny Danger back on bass and Pete Jnr off the drums seemed to work a treat. The Prickly Grapes did what the Prickly Grapes do best and capped a great day in the outdoors. Electrik Girl Duo dragged those still standing into the hall and does Russian grunge techno do a disservice to the music played? Seeing a young woman in red tracksuit with gold chain and cossak hat lead the crowd in a cossack dance all while speaking Russian needs to be seen to be believed..... Thank You - to all the bands that played. - to the crowd that turned up to support the bands and live music in the North East. In particular, thank you for your attitude and your goodwill during the afternoon. Much appreciated. - Merujan and Des in the sound tent created the stage, the clarity and the huge sound that worked so well on the day; and - to Josh and Jessie (and Louie) from the Prickly Grapes who reached out to all the bands and who promoted the day with real passion, what a great effort to bring it together like that. A huge thank you. With an attendance like that, and with the opportunity to hear live music from local talent in the area, all we can say is....until next year! Photo credit to Visuals_by_Richard
03.01.2022 At this stage, the Weldborough Hotel will remain closed for now. We are excited about the recent announcement from the Tasmanian government allowing pubs to reopen with up to 40 people. Unfortunately, the timing has caught us a little on the hop. I wanted to share 3 photos with you to try to explain how this shut down has felt. The first 2 are taken of the main gate to the campground and the third of the beer garden on the Easter weekend. Some quiet tears were shed when t...he gates were closed - for the first time since I have owned it. Seeing the beer garden empty on the Easter weekend, normally our busiest time of the year, brought a lump to the throat as well. Weldborough is a unique place, we cater for mountain bikers, trail bikes, 4-wheelers, road bikes, fossickers, fishers, nature lovers, interstate and overseas tourists and, critically, local Tasmanians out for a drive to explore what's around them. The joy of Weldborough is seeing all these groups coming together, telling stories, enjoying our hospitality and heading away with a smile on their face (if we do our job right). It was the absence of those people, their stories and their joy that hurt. And the uncertainty of when we would see that again. Our motto here is simple: We Care. We care about our guests and the service we provide them, we care about the people in the community around us and understand the important role a good pub can play in bringing isolated people in the country together to socialise and we care deeply about the welfare of each staff member that works here. We will be back shortly, unfortunately it's not right now. But please stay tuned!!
