21.01.2022 Today I looked at myself in the mirror and asked "Will you ever like you...will you ever truly Love you" It sounds ridiculous but at times it can be a constant thought in the back ground. I'm ashamed to say it's also been a driving force in my life many a time... To chase that what seems to be the elusive "self love" game. ... The times I've been in this rabbit hole game has often led to superficial content, chasing the 'things', actions and behaviours to acquire the "I like and love myself" "Top Fan" badge. Ignoring the inner cravings and depth of true inner love and acceptance. And the times where I have been knee and soul deep in working towards my burning desires in life - the bigger picture dreams and acting in service to community and the movements and people I've loved... That inner condemnation has fallen away. The work needed in this world needs me to step out of my smallness and worry of "self-like" and to continue the work forward - whatever it may be to serve those I truly love including me. Self love is not a question... It's a truth I've fragmented from the outside-in, distorted by ignoring my much needed role in this world and distracting me from my true purpose. There has been some hard feelings in this world which has stirred and inflamed my feelings toward myself. I just need to take the next right step forward. For me, self like and self love is an inside out job... Self acceptance and self love is following my true North and purpose. And I know this is not a photo of me. But it is in essence a reflection of me... And I the real question is... not when will I like myself... it's... When will I step out of this quest of false self love and approval and choose to feed my purpose in this world and step into a role of True Self Love. Stat. See more

19.01.2022 Self care My definition of self care has evolved and matured past taking a bath, having an early night and acts of service to myself.... It now includes boundaries, values and prioritising what it takes to hold true to me. Self care is self preservation and is not a linear goal post for me. It has colours and contours and a story to tell. Just like me.... Because I am not the same as I was yesterday. Or even 5 minutes from now. We are either growing or dying and with growth comes both the dying of the past and the newness of this future moment. I used to have non negotiables... But this creates a linear strain on a body, mind and spirit that doesn't follow linear rules... Why would the care of 'my BEing' be limited to set goals posts that aren't aligned with the rhythms of this world. Would this not be caging me in the past and unable to flow into the present and future? Self care is not for self damning or restraining yourself. 19.01.2022 Authentic human connection fuels my soul And even more so when it's paired with delicious food Though let's get to the real levels of connection... past the layers we curate for the world. ... During these times of new it has been incredibly humbling to tear back the layers of who I thought I was. Being able to connect with my truth and realign accordingly has also been unnerving. For me - real human connection is past the surface level of nice and good. It's the level of vulnerability that allows us to actually see and accept our human-ness for what it is. I now wish more than a good life for our children. Or for them just to be happy. Why would I want them to ignore the whole scale of what it is to be human. Or to superficially implement "Good" or "Happy" in their lives. Maybe we could also see fault in our human-ness if this WAS our only reality... It doesn't mean I don't want happiness for them - I don't want them to sacrifice being human for the benchmark of "good". 13.01.2022 Life in the Fast Lane One of the silver linings of being in self Quarantine in March/April was the period of "slow" that suddenly occurred in our lives. We were able to take a deep breath in and create space physically, mentally and emotionally. ... There were many "things", thoughts and feelings that arose in that time. The space between the action really hides a lot of "stuff". I detest the word "busy" and will fiercely deflect this when it is ever directed at me to... "Yes my life is full of purpose and action"... But truthfully there WAS often a lot of "busy" going on. This was only clear during my time of stillness... Because I've been brutally questioning what is actually necessary... As life has been speeding up again, my compass has been "Is this necessary"... And my values are changing and growing. In fact my "necessary" is fluid and transforms like the wind and the seasons. The biggest unnecessary was my attachment to static goal posts, static expectations and static values. 06.01.2022 I love this kid I'm still learning how to best parent and nurture his spark... It would help if he stopped growing in all directions... But then that wouldn't be real life. So far I've learned...... Nature trumps give him to Mother Earth and she will wrap her grounding and nurturing arms around him and he will spark. Hugs fill his heart there mainly will be two big reasons why our little J loses his When he is hangry or his hug jar is not full. Food is always needed you never want to see J on an empty stomach... 05.01.2022 Mother (my definition) - the progressive art of letting go When our children started speaking I realised they were the real teachers in our family. I've never had more extreme clarity on who I am as a person or what I say and don't say - than from our two boys. They will literally repeat what I say in the correct context... ... They are always more than listening... It's a constant download. Not only what I say but what I DON'T say... Where I DON'T act... And what and who I DON'T see, listen to or hear.... It is confronting to be faced with a smaller version of yourself when you feel like you have invested time and energy into teaching your children sometimes the compete opposite to how they are acting. (Do as I say AND as I do...) This progressive art of letting go is a constant lesson and practice for me. What I have now realised that is even more powerful WITH this act- is to let them go with the tools and open mind to go forward with. My intention is not only to let them go and be their own person but to set them free of the social binds that do not serve them or our world. To question and make radical change where necessary. To set them free to make mistakes with humility to go forward and grow and do better... To release myself from these very binds and to start with the difficult conversations at home.
