25.01.2022 Good Morning Parents/Carers, This Thursday 10th September is R U Ok? Day at Wellard Primary School. Students are encouraged to come to school dressed in as much YELLOW as possible! Parents, don't go out and buy anything new. Even just look for a bright yellow hair ribbon or a pair of yellow socks in the back of the wardrobe.... The aim of R U OK? Day is to engage Australians to connect with people in the community they may have concerns about, encouraging them to seek further help and to follow up to ensure support is being provided. This week at our school, teachers are running some activities for our students around this theme. This is not a fundraising event so please don't send any money with your child. Thank you, Lincoln Matrozis Deputy Principal
24.01.2022 Thank you to our Traffic Warden!! As you cross the road tomorrow please yell out a big Thank you!!
24.01.2022 Hello Everyone, The attached video titled "Building On Strength in Uncertain Times: In this together", the video provides relatable and culturally responsive information for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, parents and community members about these challenging times from both a system-level and Aboriginal perspective. The video is narrated by the Departments Elders in Residence and senior Aboriginal staff.... These messages are relevant to all school communities and highlight the 2020 National Reconciliation Week theme In This Together which resonates at this time, as it reminds us whether in a crisis or in reconciliation, we are all in this together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLw0hGntWmk&feature=youtu.be
24.01.2022 Dear Parents/Carers, One way that Wellard Primary School offers parents and caregivers the opportunity to give feedback to the school about how we are going is through a formal survey. The survey is a collection of six brief questions. The last two questions give you the opportunity to tell us about something that you consider we are doing well at Wellard Primary School, and let us know an area/s that you think we could do better at. This survey is anonymous. Your feedback is... simply collated and analysed in order for us to reflect upon what we are doing well, and what we can improve on. We are focussed on making sure that Every Student Matters, and Every Moment Counts. The link to the online survey is available through the notice we have posted on Connect. If you would like a paper copy of the survey instead, please collect one from the front office. Please contact the office if you have any queries.

Our shared hi...stories, cultures and achievements are important to us, and it is up to all of us to continue to play a role in working towards reconciliation. 06.01.2022 NAIDOC Week has been an enormous success this week at Wellard Primary School. This week has been a great opportunity for everyone to participate in a range of activities that celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year's theme Always was, Always will be, recognises that First Nation's people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65 000 years. Yesterday we were lucky enough to have Noongar elders N...anna Roni Gray-Forrest and Nanna Colleen Castle as well as Emma Castle come and work with some of our Year 6 students to install the NAIDOC Sand Mural. Mr Gary Ryder also took some amazing drone shots of the sand mural. A big Wellard thank you for all of your time and effort. Our NAIDOC Student Assembly this morning was a huge highlight of the week. The students sang 'Wanjoo', a Noongar welcome song that is sang entirely in Noongar language. #alwayswasalwayswillbe #NAIDOC2020 #NAIDOCWeek2020 #publiceducation_wa

01.01.2022 The Year 2 teachers are at it again!!! Click on the link to see!! https://youtu.be/XQ-i20LU3K4 These videos are created as a part of our Talk4Writing whole school program. The Talk 4 Writing approach enables children to read and write independently for a variety of audiences and purposes within different subjects. A key feature is that children internalise the language structures needed to write through talking the text, as well as close reading. The approach moves from dependence towards independence, with the teacher using shared and guided teaching to develop the ability in children to write creatively and powerfully.
01.01.2022 Kiss and Drop!!! Thank you everyone for using the Kiss and Drop again this morning. The traffic around the school was running very smoothly. Please remember to talk to your child about the Kiss and Drop so that they are aware of where they need to be collected from. It is important that they are walking across the supervised walkway near Teaching Block 2. ... Keep it up Wellard Parents and Carers!!
