24.01.2022 Dental X-rays - seeing the unseen! Did you know that in many situations working without dental radiographs is like a pilot flying in thick cloud without instruments or radar?! At Wellers Hill Dental we use digital x-ray technology to ensure only an extremely low amount of radiation is used, often less than a few hours flight in an aeroplane ! Dental radiographs (x-rays) allow your Oral Health Professional to see what is happening between your teeth and unde...r the gums, often on the surface things can look healthy and yet in actual fact problems can be brewing - early tooth decay does not tend to show many physical signs or symptoms. By taking a radiograph your Oral Health Professional will be able see whether you have decay, infections in and around tooth roots, or any bone loss around the teeth. This is important, as these issues are often unseen and can cause significant health problems if left untreated. A simple and painless x-ray can save your time, your health and your back pocket . Lauren and Tegan had their direct observation assessments today at our sister clinic (Redbank Dental Centre) with their Tafe QLD assessor, we are happy (and a little bit proud ) to say they have passed the assessment and now are simply waiting for the paperwork to go through before officially being recognised as qualified Dental Assistants! Awesome work ladies!

22.01.2022 Here are a few friendly tips to end off 2020 (thank goodness, right!?) and keep your teeth sparkling into 2021: 1. Alcohol dehydrates you, which means your mouth produces less saliva. Saliva protects your teeth, so keep it flowing by nibbling cheese, drinking water and chewing gum. 2. Soft drinks are definitely an option instead of alcohol, but remember they're often full of sugar. Try drinking some water after, or rinsing your mouth with water. ... 2. We're getting old...midnight feels so late these days! If you're staying up to welcome the new year, don't neglect your teeth. Give them a good brush before bed to protect them from bad bacteria throughout the night. .....BUT.... 3. 19.01.2022 Our Stories Here at Wellers Hill Dental we have decided to share some of our experiences with you from during the COVID-19 lock down! We each had some unique experiences and navigated challenges. We hope that as WE share our stories with you, you share YOURS with US! ... Our first story is brought to you by: LAUREN On the 12th March Australia was declared to be in a pandemic. On this day I landed in Sydney with my family to go on a cruise (Ovation of the Seas) to New Zealand and Noumea. A couple of hours out from NZ their Prime Minister closed the borders to overseas visitors and our cruise ship was forced to turn around and head back to Sydney. I didn't think much of it as we were oblivious to how bad the situation was at home. It took 3 days to get back to Sydney, so my cruise in total was 7 days floating in the ocean. It was very relaxing. The Captain allowed every one on the ship two hours to organise flights back home. It was hard for others who lived in America, who couldnt get flights for a week. Once home the gravity of the situation became very apparent. I had to self isolate for 14 days. During this time I got a cold so had to be tested for coronavirus which was very unpleasant. I was negative thank goodness. I am very happy that I live in Queensland Australia and for the management of the disease so that it hasn't escalated to the extent of overseas. We'd like to take this time to remind you that we're all in this together and as we slowly rebuild and adapt to the "new normal" our Wellers Hill Dental family will always remain here for YOU, our wonderful community .

09.01.2022 Covid-19 has created a lot of uncertainty in our community! Understandably, people are staying away from the places they used to visit freely before the pandemic hit. Our Practice is a little different to other places, here's why: We protect ourselves and our patients from infectious diseases everyday.... We follow the Infections Guidelines recommended by the Australian Dental Association. We autoclave all of our instruments and handpieces after each patient. We use single-use disposable items where possible (many if which are also biodegradable to continue to be as eco-friendly as possible ) We are asking all our patients to stay home if they are feeling unwell or have travelled recently. 09.01.2022 STORY TIME Brought to you by: DR NICK and DR RANJIT Wow what a wild ride 2020 has been for our dental family ...so far! Hopefully only getting better from here.... Our dental practice went from a bustling hive of activity for our wonderful staff and patients to only seeing those in pain. Even those could have only limited treatment. I must say I am so proud of our practice for staying open and continuing to treat patients in pain. Many practices closed, and this was totally understandable. Im sure we all feared the virus, I certainly did. If it wasnt for the community-mindedness of our staff, we would have closed and waited it out at home. We certainly did spend more time than usual at home though, and there were many positives in that. We spent more time together as a family, enjoying the simple things like cooking, gardening, building Lego, playing board games and riding our bikes! It was a stressful time but there were many good moments too. We wish everyone the best as we continue to navigate these strange times, and lets use this to remind ourselves of whats really important, our family, our friends and our health.
