23.01.2022 The first picture was taken 2 years ago at the start of creating our food forrest medicinal herb garden with using permaculture design principles. Our property... was a clean slate to begin with. The 'soil' to work with was both gravel and poor quality sand as we are located in the foothills. The initial picture was taken about 1 year after moving here where I was still very much at the soil regeneration/soil testing stage. Then further along with a more recent picture of going beyond permaculture principles by deepening my understanding and further study into regenerative agriculture. Our property is still very much in progress but always a joy to watch things slowly evolve. Slowly, as the beagles are also involved with the landscaping process. Landscape Architects they would prefer to call themselves. Yesterday we saved a paw paw which got in the way of play. Well pruned and now relocated. Not only does our property produce up to 80 percent of our daily food depending on the season etc it also provides heaps of great enrichment areas and ideas for the beagles, microclimates for the frogs, bird life and others along with herbs used within our 4 Paws & Friends Aromatherapy Products. If you are interested in learning more about how I have implemented both permaculture design and regenerative agriculture principles to further achieve 80 percent self sufficiency then join up for our workshop that I am hosting Sunday 27th September, 1pm. As I will be offering heaps of information so that you can go out and get started! Be Well. Be Nourished. Be Loved.

16.01.2022 Another beautiful sunny day today and we have had so much going on with getting ready for the change over to spring. We have had quail chicks hatch out over t...he past two weeks. Our quails are a part of our medicinal herbal, food forrest garden where we have used Perma Culture principles as the foundation of design. They free roam within part of our garden space helping out with adding goodness to soil and heaps of entertainment for everyone to enjoy. Our soil was tested and nurtured over two years before our quails joined us. To ensure that their eggs would not be contaminated along with the food that we grow for them, our bees, the beagles and us. This past week we have again planted out more fruit trees and herbs for us all and our bees have been super busy. Honey harvest is on the cards!! In fact we are continually planting unless it is full moon then we just focus on nurturing soil. On the new moon we get busy!! As some of you know, I have been studying Sustainable Agriculture which I have pretty much finished and am super excited about. Sunday 27th September I will be running a workshop on edible food gardening and how to get started. I will be talking about Permaculture principles along with the fundamentals of building good soil health and lots of other great information. This workshop will run for about 1 1/2 hours and cost is $20.00 per person. Numbers are limited to 6 people or friends of 4 Paws Friends Aromatherapy Products and Wellness Centre for Dogs & Their Humans. Start time is 1pm and will be held at our therapy room in Forrestfield. Overlooking our food forrest garden. To secure your place for this workshop please contact me via messenger: 4 Paws Friends Aromatherapy Products. Be Well. Be Nourished. Be Loved.

05.01.2022 Welcome to Shake Ya Quail Feather and to our page of quail quirkiness. Here is a little bit of information about who we are and our lovely quails. Our quails ...are a part of our food forrest, medical herb garden that was createdy in 2017 using Permaculture design principles. Within their landscaped area they have the freedom to move about freely and in this space fruit trees, grasses and herbs have been planted. The aim was to create an environment that would resemble natural habitat for them. Throughout the day the quails spend their time foraging and hanging out with their quail buddies. They are calm and happy little creatures. Quails are classified as game birds therefore their eggs have a higher protein content than chicken eggs. Here in Perth, Western Australia one needs to hold a permit in order to keep Japanese quail. Shake Ya Quail Feather offers quail eggs for sale which are available seasonally from late August - June as we allow our quails time to rest during winter months. Be Well. Be Nourished. Be Loved.
