22.01.2022 This is the secret recipe...., for everyone interested in what I had in my energy smoothie. Over the last year I’ve stopped wanting to swallow tablets so I’ve sourced the best quality powdered formulations to give me what I need. To get all my nutrients in a delicious tasting smoothie makes the process so much more enjoyable. This is what’s in my energy smoothie- based on coconut milk I’ve added collagen protein, energy X (magnesium, B vitamins, iodine, selenium, zinc......) vitamin D, medicinal mushrooms, probiotics, and the delicious Lovers Latte. I can honestly say I feel great when I have it. If you are wanting a quick easy afternoon smoothie without all the nutrients try the Lovers Latte (or raw cacao)with your choice of milk and some collagen. #individualprescription #healthandwellbeing #naturopathicnutrition #nutrients #prescriptionnutrients #healthandwellness #thyroidhealing #hormonalbalance See more

21.01.2022 Formulating and mixing herbal medicine is one of the greatest joys of my work. To design a formula that is the perfect combination of herbs to support the individual is a sure way to get results by not only eliminating the symptoms but working on the underlying factors that are the cause. California poppy is just one of the herbs that has been getting quite a work out of late, swipe across to have a read. #herbalmedicine #mediherb #healthandwellness #naturalmedicine #naturopathicmedicine #lookafteryourself #sleep #stressrelief

18.01.2022 A healthy breakfast is a great way to start the day. With all the high school kids starting their exams dont forget the benefits of some protein in their diets for brain power. Protein raises the levels of amino acid tyrosine, which prompts the brain to manufacture norepinephrine and dopamine. These chemical messengers can keep one energised as they promote alertness and activity. #startthedayright #brainpower #thegap #nutrition #tgshs #aminoacids #goodluckwithyourexams

17.01.2022 The bacteria (and the trillions of other microorganisms) in the gut, are known collectively as the gut microbiome, the health of which is essential for immune resilience and resistance to infection. These beneficial organisms directly interact with the immune system (a large proportion of which is also housed in the gut), helping to boost the overall immune response against pathogens. In other words, a healthy microbiome helps to build immune function, whilst a compromised microbiome reduces immune resilience. Head to our blog post to read about how a microbiome test can help can reveal insights into the compounds your bacteria might be producing. https://blog.metagenics.com.au/how-a-microbiome-test-can-h/

11.01.2022 Stress impacts our sleep and results in a vicious cycle. Stress evokes the fight or flight, or, sympathetic nervous system. This system produces the stress hormone adrenaline and further increases cortisol production. Together, they stimulate the body, keeping it on high alert, primed and ready to fight or flee from the perceived stressor. While useful when actually necessary, these high levels of stress hormones produced throughout the day can impair your circadian rhythm f...rom cycling properly, resulting in melatonin production being affected come night time. This is then a recipe for your body clock to become disrupted and poor sleep to ensue. As feeling stressed is certainly a part of life at times, it’s up to each of us find what soothing and stress busting supplements and practices will reduce this stress and ensure we’re still getting a good night’s sleep. If you suspect your circadian rhythm has become out of balance due to longer term stress, seek the support and guidance of a Practitioner, who can work with you to holistically address your stress and support your sleep. Creating a nourishing plan to address your stress can then mean looking forward to that peaceful, sound slumber. Six tips to help with a restful sleep 1. Have a bedtime routine 2. Put down all electronics one hour prior to bed 3. Avoid stimulants in the evening (coffee, tea, sugar, chocolate) 4. Engage in some exercise during the day 5. Increase exposure to natural light during the day 6. Manage stress levels (try yoga, meditation, being with friends, Epsom salt bath, journaling) #sleep #circadianrhythm #healthylifestyle #stress #cortisol #thyroid #adrenalfatigue #moodswings

09.01.2022 Why Millennials & Gen Z Struggle The Most With Mental Health Right Now, From A Neuropsychiatrist. https://www.mindbodygreen.com//millennial-mental-health-pa Although the statistics paint a distressing picture, there are some strategies that might help. ... During this pandemic, I believe mental hygiene is as important as washing your hands. You need to disinfect your thoughts and redirect your attention away from all the negativity. Doing something as simple as starting your day saying today is going to be a great day can direct your brain to look for reasons why it will be great, and can set you up for a brighter day. This is a process I refer to as "rewiring your negativity bias." It's also beneficial to prioritize practices that have a positive impact on brain health, like hydration, sleep, exercise, and nutritious eating. That said, if you're experiencing prolonged feelings of depression or other symptoms of mental illness, please consider seeking help from a medical professional. If you or someone you love is experiencing suicidal depression, there is help, call Lifeline 13 11 14 #lifeline #mentalhealth #mentalhygiene #youarenotalone #ruok

07.01.2022 Too much estrogen can cause heavy periods, breast pain, fibroids, and premenstrual irritability. It can also suppress thyroid function and increase the risk of breast cancer. Natural remedies can be very effective to help decrease estrogen. Here are some tips on how to naturally decrease estrogen Dont take hormonal birth control.... Reduce alcohol to promote healthy estrogen metabolism. Eat vegetables for their beneficial phytoestrogen content. Phytoestrogens promote healthy estrogen metabolism and shelter the body from too much estrogen. Maintain a healthy body weight to reduce the production of estrone. 05.01.2022 Ancient and mysterious, honey has long held pole position as being the nectar of the gods. Of all the types of honey, unprocessed or raw honey contains the greatest amount of healing properties, like pollen, which contains the most active components of the honey, is destroyed during exposure to light and heat processing. Sadly, the honey on grocery store shelves today dont always bear a lot of resemblance to the honey harvested thousands of years ago, since its often processed, blended and heated, stripping it of many of its vital nutrients. Buying raw local honey is certainly the way to go. Take a look at the article below for some evidence on the benefits of honey.

02.01.2022 As a practising Medicinal Herbalist turmeric (curcumin) is one of my most commonly used herbs. Turmeric is the spice that gives curry its yellow colour. It has been used in India for thousands of years as a spice and medicinal herb. Recently, science has started to back up what Indians have known for a long time it really does contain compounds with medicinal properties. These compounds are called curcuminoids, the most important of which is curcumin. It has powerful an...ti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant. Turmeric and especially its most active compound curcumin have many scientifically-proven health benefits, such as the potential to prevent heart disease, Alzheimer’s and cancer. It’s a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant and may also help improve symptoms of depression and arthritis. Please see below a recent meta-analysis indicating the benefit of curcumin as an adjunctive treatment in depressive disorders. See more
