24.01.2022 Strength - Muscular Endurance - Weight Loss - Stability: These are just some of the outcomes that Liam outlined he wanted to achieve when we designed his program. In the 6 months we have been working together Liam has been able to achieve all of these outcomes by being consistent and following the instructions given to him as part of the plan. We use #vipr training tools to help Liam reach our target milestones. How good is his upper cut!!?!?

20.01.2022 Today the twins worked on interoception. Grasping the lesser-known sense that helps you understand and feel whats going on inside your body. Wendy and Rae both experience restriction in their upper body so we isolated the lower body and distracted the brain with a seated game. Lots of laughing, lots of movement with improved awareness. Very cool and very fun!

15.01.2022 Gary is a big fan of the Powerplate. Hes been coming to Wellstrong to train on this cool piece of equipment for almost a year now. In this video he is mobilising the lateral myofascial line with dynamic movements. Training on a Powerplate can improve flexibility, overall strength and stamina. The calibrated mechanical vibration can also help decrease pain and increase range of joint motion. So whats cool about this? Gary has avoided having to have major knee surgery and is moving better and with more confidence than he has in years. Very cool indeed

15.01.2022 I wrote a really long winded post about today being the 1 year anniversary of Wellstrong opening in Guildford. I deleted it because all I really need to do here is say thank you. Thank you to my family for believing in me, trusting me and supporting me. Thank you to each and every person who has walked through the door and said hello, yes please and no this is not for me. Thank you to Guildford and all of the people who live here and those who travel from Mandurah, Currambine and Jupiter who have supported everything we do here at Wellstrong for mental and physical health. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all so very much. No get back to work and make awesome shit happen. If you dont Im putting more weight on the sled next time youre in!!

14.01.2022 Before you move or work out for the day make sure you check in with how you have carried yourself for the last 24 hours. 1. Have you given your body adequate fuel to maintain optimal energy levels? 2. Have you put fluids into your body? Not just water but liquids (because theyre mostly all water anyway right?) Sports wine not included. Sorry. ... 3. Have you slept 6 solid hours or more? 4. Are you happy/sad/bothered/relaxed/anxious/depressed/lonely/excited? 5. Do you have any pain, soreness or restriction in your ability to move? 6. Have you been moving more than just incidental movement for 15 consecutive minutes? 7. Are you present and connected with the purpose and intent of the movement you are about to perform? Keep moving peeps! Find ways to break through the noise and trouble and remember, were all in this together. Big love!

14.01.2022 Built between the years of 1869 and 1871, The Padbury building is significant for its aesthetic characteristics, being a fine example of a contiguous group of buildings in the Victorian Regency, and Federation Free Classical styles, located at the bifurcation of Terrace Road and Swan Street where it contributes significantly to the aesthetic qualities of the historic town of Guildford. So when we say this health and wellness training facility is special, we really mean it.

13.01.2022 Depth was a bit iffy but were pretty happy with the prep that Mel has put in for this realisation phase leading into Ladies of Lifting 2020. Final heavy squat at 67.5kg. A PB for her and an increase of 17.5kg on her final attempt at her last competition! Well done Mel!!

11.01.2022 Many of my clients will have heard me ask "are you taking magnesium?". There's an abundance of research that indicates taking magnesium as a supplement as well as eating good sources of nutrition with higher levels of magnesium can be helpful for many reasons. Of course there are also studies that show that there have been no indicated benefits. If you want to know a bit more about why I recommend Magnesium as a supplement then have a listen to this podcast by Dan Garner with his take on why he does as well.

10.01.2022 The Black Eyed Bruiser - Phil is 72 going on 40 by the looks of these squats. Maintaining mobility, staying fit, being pain free and feeling young are the outcomes based goals that have been incorporated into Phils tailored training programs. Hes here at Wellstrong 3 times a week and, as I am sure youll all agree, the results demonstrated in this video speak for themselves. Oh, and the reason why I call him the black eyed bruiser is because he just accidentally punched me in the eye during our warm up.

07.01.2022 BOOM! Liam busting out a new Deadlift personal best today at 115kg. When Liam first started at Wellstrong he outlined that it was his intention to build and maintain strength and stability due to having myotonic dystrophy. He has been able to achieve his goals by following a tailored strength and conditioning program designed to suit his ability and needs. Well done Liam! You always do the work prescribed to you and in return your investment in your well-being is paying off!

04.01.2022 Pull your weight - Paula spends a lot of her day in a seated position in a busy health clinic. Since experiencing a workplace related injury a few years ago her posterior chain and upper body strength has deteriorated. After spending several sessions assessing Paulas range of workload and ability we designed a program that would specifically target her weaknesses and treat the upper body pain and restriction that she has been experiencing. Part Paulas customised strength program involves a regressed pull-up. Paulas upper body strength does not allow her to work in an full range of motion for this exercise at this point so we have regressed it to a point where we are getting the desired stimulus (time under tension) and the desired response (fatigue). Not only does she enjoy this exercise, she knows its working for her.

02.01.2022 Protective Measures - Im not going to make a long post about Corona Virus because I am not an expert. What I will do is follow the advice given to me/us by experts. The Wellstrong studio is a controlled environment in regards to the fact that I have complete control over who comes in. I do not have control over what my clients do. What I will be asking every client to do is to sanitise their hands upon entering the studio. I will also be asking all my clients to be vigilant and cognisant of their health and well-being. At any point if I feel or become aware that there is in any way or form a risk to anyones health I will take the necessary steps to let everyone know. Were a community of people who put their health and well-being first. Lets look after each other during these challenging times.
