25.01.2022 Game 7 Wembley Downs 5 goals 13 defeated Sorrento 2 goals 5 in a very wet day. The skills level were definately not on show today but the boys fought out a hard earned win.Punky celebrated his 50th against his old team who he played nearly fifty games with as well. Best Players awards today were given to Fraser Hyatt who played his heart out. Jack Faulkner played well in defence and the mid field.... Reade Walker also was another hard working player all day. Next week we have Carine cats and for this game we are going to have to be at our best. Lets all get to training and work on our marking and hitting targets to make sure we are on for this week. 25.01.2022 Game 8 Top of the ladder clash against our arch rivals the Carine Cats. Wembley Downs 5 goals 9 to Carine 2 goals 4. The weather looked threatening but it remained pretty dry until the third quarter when a heavy shower came through. The boys played really well and if not for some inaccurate shots on goal the game probably would have been all over by half time. Our skill level was still not where we really want it to be but saying that there was a lot to like about the way th...e boys played today. We can improve a lot from that game so in the the coming months we need to keep training to enhance our skills to be ready to play in the finals at the end of the year. Our next game is the last before the holidays and we are going to be playing Ocean Ridge which will be another hard game as this team is well drilled. The best player today was Darcy Redman and it was probably one of the best games of football i have ever seen him play. He was everywhere and saved us many times in our defence with intercept marks and just hard fighting to win the contests. Well done Darcy and please keep playing like that. The coaches award went to Tom Winton who kept on making a contest and worked hard all day. Next week we will also be having the club pictures so everyone will be at the game. See you all at training on Tuesday and remember to bring your party tricks as requested by Trent Les

22.01.2022 Game 11 Webley Downs vs Claremont Wembley Downs 6 goals 8 defeated Claremont 6 goals 5. This was a very close game and the first of four weeks where we are missing players due to the Hale camps. These next three weeks are going to be extremely challenging and are going to require all players to play at their best for us to be competitive. This week we are going to be playing Joondalup Kinross and we will be without the majority of the boarders. The game against Claremont was... a very close game and there was some really good efforts by a lot of the players. Special mention went to Riley Disisto who played his heart out and was give the coaches best player award. Fraser and Darcy also played really well with another good effort in the backline by Jack Faulkner.Sam van Rooyen also was another standout performer with some solid marks in defense as well as a vital goal. These next three weeks are going to be crucial in the lead up to the finals and if we can get a couple of wins it should guarantee us a place in the finals. Lets get to training and work on our skills so that we can apply them during the game. See more

19.01.2022 Game 9 vs Ocean Ridge. Wembley Downs 7 goals 7 defeated Ocean Ridge 7 Goals 5. We always new that this was going to be a very hard game. Ocean Ridge play a very similar style of game to us and move the ball quickly making us accountable for our play. Coaches awards today went to Zak Daws who played well in the forwards line delivering the ball with that trusty left foot. The other coaches award went to Oli Robson who once again was strong in defense and was one of that grou...p of players that have consistently keeping the opposition teams to low scores. We have a couple of weeks off for School holidays and Trent has said that there is no training until Tuesday the 16th of July before our next game back on the 21st of July. During this time please keep up with the running and make use of kicking the footy so we are not rusty when we get back. We are going to be very light on for numbers from now on so if any boarders are able to get back for the first game it would be much appreciated. Also make sure you look after yourself during the holidays as I dont want to come back to more injuries as well. Have a great holiday and see you all in a couple of weeks. See more

17.01.2022 Game 12 Joondalup Kinross vs Wembley Downs Joondalup 14 goals 10 defeated Wembley Downs 6 goals 12. This game was a very spiteful one with a lot of dubious tackling from Joondalup however saying that we have to be a bit more prepared for this tactic in the future. We were missing some very handy players and was alsways going to be a hard game to win. These three games are all going to be tough ones with another hard game against Subiaco coming up this week. With all the boys ...away on camp it is difficult to have stability in the side buy it is also an opportunity for some boys to be tried in different positions than they normally would play Coaches awards this week were given to Fletcher and callum Johnson. Also special mention should go to Oli who I believe played really well in a depleted backline. He played with shin splints and could barely walk but still opted to play in full forward to help the team out which i thin was a great effort. Our kicking this week really let us down with some of our disposals going directly to the opposition and then resulting in a quick turnover goal. The other main bad thing we did is that we were all to focused on trying to score goals instead of looking for our team mates that may have been in better positions. Things to work on include voice on the field and also having a look around before blazing for goals if you have time. Trent has always focused on our ball handling below our knees. This is another area that I believe needed improvement on the weekend. The last was our lack of ability to hold our tackles. This coming weeks if we can work on improving these things this should set us up for a good tilt at the finals. See more

16.01.2022 Thanks guys for helping celerbrate Punky's 50th with a win against his old club.

15.01.2022 Game 13 Wembley Downs 11 goals 7 defeated Subiaco Lions 10 Goals 10 Well another very close game and one stage there I actually thought we had lost. We were once again handed some very unusual decisions with a goal being overturned even though it was the oppositions goal umpire and everyone on the field thought that it was a goal except for one of the umpires who overturned it. Then in the last quarter when it was an obvious point he decided that he would not correctly overtu...rn it. But in the end the boys fought hard and got over the line. Considering that we had about 11 boys unavailable it was an amazing effort. Fraser and Darcy again worked really hard all over the ground. Beggsy was awesome up front and kicked 4 goals. Rowey was really good off the half back flank stopping a lot of their attacks. To be honest I believe that all the boys played really well and that is why with such a depleted side they got the win. We have two games to go and these are really important games for us and will require us to be at our best. Next week we are playing Sorrento at home and they beat the team that beat us last week. Following that one we have Carine which is always a really hard game. The top four sides are all really competitive so there are going to be no easy games so we all have to focus get down to training and work on our game plan if we are to go deep into September. Have a great day and we will see you all at training on Tuesday. See more

13.01.2022 Game 14 Wembley Downs 13 goals 11 defeated Sorrento 5 goals 1. With most of our boys back and Jack celebrating his 100th game the boys appeared to be fired up at the start of the game. It was probably the most fired up i have seen them all year. This continued out into the game with what I would say was some of our best football all year. The boys were running hard and spreading and using the ball well. This resulted in a five goal first quarter. Sorrento played really well a...nd I dont think the score board really reflected how they played but in the end there was some really great passages of play that made it a pleasure to watch and for one week my heart was not in my throat. We now go into our last game against Carine and this will be a really hard game as we are going to be without all of our boarders. This game will determine where we finish on the ladder and what route we take into the finals. The coaches awards this week were given to Callum Johnston who played really well in defence and was good in the ruck when Harry Lannigan went down with a groin injury. Lachy Matsen also played really well picking up one of the other coaches award. The last award went to Conrad William who really set the game alight today and his kicking improved greatly resulting in four goals. This week we are going to be training at Teakwood reserve so lets all get down there and lets prepare for the game against Carine as well as starting to look towards how we are going to play in the finals. Have a great weekend. See more

13.01.2022 FINALS With finals coming there is going to be some disappointments during this time. We have 31 boys on our list and we can only play 25 on game day. We do not know how many games we are going to play as the number of scenarios are very fluid at the moment. The worst case is that we will play one and may get knocked out if we are in 3rd or 4th position and we lose. If we are in ist of second position we may play two or three games depending if we win or lose. The coaching staff will try and make sure every child gets to play at least one final (on the condition that we play two games) however if we make the grand final the team will be selected based on team requirements, attitudes, how they have been at training and games. The boys that dont play i will try and involve them in the game so they are part of the team.

07.01.2022 Game 10 Wembley Downs 8 goals 11 defeated Wanneroo 7 goals 7. Wanneroo got off to a great start kicking 5 goals before we got started. At the end of the first quarter it was five goals to two. The boys were very rusty and the skill levels were definitely below par. The next quarter saw us scoring 3 goals and keeping them scoreless. Our new addition to the team, Conrad Williams really showed some clean heels in the second half with some great runs down the wing.Matt Folan was ...strong in defense providing us with some great repelling attacks from the full back line. Darcy once again was controlling the back line off the half back flank. Our ruck Division of Chief and Pat performed really well giving our engine room the ability to get the ball forward. Overall the team did well to get the four points as we did not play our best football as everyone appeared to start slow. Given that lets all get to training on Tuesday and start working on our ball handling skills so that when we play Claremont we are able to proved a competitive team to play against. The next four weeks are going to be hard in the fact we have a lot of our players away on the Hale camps so the boys that are here are going to have to be playing at their best to make sure we win those games. See more

05.01.2022 Congratulations Punky on 50 games for Wembley Downs
