Now the hard work for us is over we are taking a little rest before our bakery reopens Weds 3rd Jan. So from all of us here at Wensley's We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

22.01.2022 Happy to say 'Treacle tarts' have now been added to the range. I can also say that after trying many others in the recipe, that 'Tate & Lyle' Golden syrup still sets the bar for both quality and flavour ... and so that's the one we are using in the recipe. We are also working through many more of your suggestions and a few others... and will keep updating the range throughout the year.

16.01.2022 Any ideas? We are 'thinking' about adding one or two new lines this year. We would love to hear your thoughts as to what products you would like to see added?. Obviously, they must be both traditional and of British Origin. ... We've had a few ideas for some products already, but, it would be really interesting to hear your thoughts. I will not comment on any individual messages to this post 'just yet', as I'd just like to first gather an entire picture of everyone's ideas. All of your opinions will be most welcome.

15.01.2022 'Wensley's are taking a short holiday. Our factory shop will be closed on Friday 5th May reopening on Weds 17th May.

14.01.2022 Happy Easter everyone! Our factory shop will be open Weds and Thursday 8 till 2pm for those most essential food favourites. (Shop will be Closed on Good Friday).

14.01.2022 Can I just say......If you're thinking of sending me an email please read on. Now, this week I received an email asking if we could adapt our recipe and methods to make the pork pies much softer and more like the ones that he used to enjoy so much like those sold on the 'British Rail trains' and also those from 'Sainsburys". ...Apparently, our pastry is too crunchy and he had to use a knife to cut through the crisp pastry base. He also suggested I should watch A Michael Porti...llo train programme on Britain where in one episode he showed people how to make a 'proper' pork pie. I could learn a thing or two from that too. No, I'm not joking. We receive a few emails now and again ranging from polite requests to obnoxious demands. Too much jelly, not enough jelly, too much pepper, not enough pepper. too hard too soft, too small make em bigger, too big for one... can we do mini one?. Can you see where I'm going with this? Now, our intention here from the very start here as always been to make a product range that is the best available in Australia, and certainly as we would like to eat and enjoy ourselves and then cost that recipe accordingly with the hope others will like them too. Even if it's just to bring back some memories from your past lives in the UK. Overwhelming most comments and reviews that come our way are extremely positive and we always really appreciate that. as do we appreciate to hear when there's a problem or any real constructive advice. This is all important. But, It would be foolish to think for one minute that we could please everyone 100% of the time ....Of course we will not be exactly the same as you used to get from your local butcher in your previous city, town or village back in the UK. We are a team of just three people here, Husband, Wife and Son and together we try and make all of our products the best that is available in Australia... with the ingredients we have available here and the knowledge we have attained over the last 30 years in the industry. We may not get it right for you 100% of the time, but we are always trying 100% all of the time. Thanks for listening!

04.01.2022 Hi all, Just a quick update to our current position in the light of the new Covid-19 Pandemic. We are taking things day by day same as everyone else and adapting as best we can to the advice given to us. We will continue to supply everyone that can remain trading through this. ... We will continue to open the Bakery shop on Weds/Thurs and Fridays 8 till 2 pm as usual. We may have some shortages dependent on the availability of ingredients, but supply of most things is sound. Working together with both our stockists and suppliers we will continue to trade as near to business as usual for as long as we are able to do so. Very sadly we heard last night that many of the restaurants, cafes and pubs we supply will have to close to reduce the spread and our heart goes out to everyone of them. Many of these business have been friends and customers for many years. I hope we see them all reopen again real soon. I must add some of these businesses are opening for takeaway orders, so go support small business in anyway you can to keep them going! Please stay safe.

04.01.2022 Merry Christmas to each and everyone of our customers and friends. Hope you all have a lovely Christmas and thank you all for supporting our small family business for another year.

03.01.2022 Heston Blumenthal quoted ..."I was born in the '60s and grew up in the '70s - not exactly the best decade for food in British history. It was horrendous. It was a time when, as a nation, we excelled in art and music and acting and photography and fashion - all creative skills... all apart from cooking". Hmm, I see where he's coming from to a degree. Put I still remember with fondness Butterscotch Angels Delight and Crisp Sandwiches. I remember the grill exploding as the economy burgers curled up and spat fat into the flames. Maybe the food was bad...but I also remember great pork pies with Colmans Mustard or Branston Pickle......timeless.

02.01.2022 Thanks for all of the suggestions on new products. We are looking through them all carefully... along with a couple of our own. We'll trial a few recipes and see what we can do this year to expand our range a bit.

02.01.2022 Sad to hear that yet another one of my favourite places back in Leicester are closing. Brucciani's are an institution in Leicester but are sadly closing in May, after 80 years in the City centre. No more fresh cream lemon splits! I'm only just getting over the loss of the Walker's Pork Pie shop after 195 years! of trading in the City centre. The Walker's Pie Queue was part of something to behold. They probably invented both the fluted pork pie and the queue at the same ti...me. Sad to see so many shops and businesses closing down both locally and back in the homeland.
