23.01.2022 In early 2019, Lionel was facing homelessness after losing his job as a result of chronic health issues. Wentworth caseworker Joseph was able to help him out, and eventually suggest that Lionel move into one of the properties developed as part of our Garden Flat pilot. We’ve been exploring the concept of low-cost garden flats for people on very low incomes for a number of yearswhen a Penrith property owner expressed interested, Wentworth jumped at the chance to put our ideas... into action. Lionel moved into his new home, built from two shipping containers, in June and is already noticing the difference some extra money and space makes. I feel comfortable and safe, and I love it out there on the verandah in the sun, he says. Read Lionel’s full story in the #WentworthAnnualReport2020 here: https://bit.ly/377uuZr

13.01.2022 Always Was, Always Will Be As NAIDOC Week celebrations kick off around the country, Wentworth wants to take this opportunity to honour and pay respect to our Aboriginal tenants, staff and community members. This year’s theme, Always Was Always Will Be, recognises that First Nations people have lived and cared for this country and its lands for over 65,000 years.... This land always was and always will be Aboriginal land. Wentworth acknowledges the Darug, Gundungurra and Wiradjuri people as the traditional owners and custodians of the land on which we work. We pay our respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
11.01.2022 Our Community Roadshow events have been fun, friendly and most importantly... COVID-safe! Keeping in touch with our community, sharing a cuppa and having a chinwag is a really important part of what we do at Wentworth. This year has made it difficult to see our tenants as much as we would like, so the team has really cherished the recent opportunity to catch up and say hello! (And we hope the feeling is mutual!) Here are some photos from our October and November events in ...Penrith and South Windsor, with all the proper safety procedures in place. Keep a look out for an upcoming meet up near you! #Community #WentworthCommunityHousing #SocialHousing #AffordableHousing
