23.01.2022 A student experiment from long ago,.. but i still like the idea...

21.01.2022 It Did rain, before sundown,.. thankfully. WA's Great Southern wheatbelt. Another harsh start to the cropping season.

19.01.2022 Moon, seems popular this Easter. Here is an Oldie,.. for the Curious, or the Dubious,.. or the budding Photogs with time on hands. This was, 2 shots within 10 seconds, with a focus change between.... HDR can later find best parts of both, ( or 10) and overlay them. But only if the framing is Identical... Moon itself exposure, is 'Daylight'. Shutterspeed max is 1/2 second. Moves across sky like a person jogging in the distance.?

19.01.2022 What a Magnificent rock we All have above our garden... Drove through the Chester Pass and Stirlings this arvo. Stunning evening landscapes, with the Clearest sky. Arrived home to see this rising.... no time to find a foreground subject this time..... (Oddly enough, for photogs.: f45, 1/60, 200 iso.)

16.01.2022 Odd to see a photo of your Dad in a pram in 1926 pop up out of the State Archive's random fbk posts just before Father's Day! But did? This one tho, would be the family favourite. Winter 1931. Ian, Joan, Peg, mother Phyllis, and visiting Uncle George Joubert from Melbourne, dressed,.. as you did.? Draught horses are idling,. ploughman part hidden is having his lunch on the back bumper. Car is a 1929 'Graham Paige'. Soft top, smartly traded the following winter for a Hardtop.. GN.32 plates have since been fitted to every make of car ever available in Australia over 90 years, but just on my aging ute for now......

16.01.2022 An abstract phone snap, on seeing, take them Now or never...

12.01.2022 Pretty Little things... An hour visit to old school site at Toompup. Must be September again... Heres a Tiny Orange, a Creamy Maroon, an Aggressive Green, and a Cat's Paw. Now that I've found out there's 20 variations of each, I'm not naming them....!

11.01.2022 The Archive story. Our Great Aunty Meg (1895-1985) bless her soul.. Apparently went nowhere without her Box Brownie, and documented the early years of wheatbelt farm life in the 1920's. I remember a tiny nuggety cheeky old woman, in a floral dress and black hobnail boots..! She left farm to be Matron at The Priory girl's hostel in Albany in the 30's. Her photos were never mentioned. I found an unknown box of 120 2x4 inch negatives 50 years later, and 30 yrs after that, had the tech to scan. Meg would never have seen them as Prints... They are now safely lodged in the State Archives and available for all to see. And from there, this handful has just made it to the Big screen, used behind final credits for recent movie RAMS... I can hear her clicking her teeth and chuckling.....!

10.01.2022 The alternate Moon Pic... A warm Easter in W.A.

05.01.2022 Archive Discoveries....

05.01.2022 Dancing Orchids., 54 weeks later.. Blood Spiders, 'Caladenia filifera'. Nearly invisible in its surrounds, until you stand on one! Great advice thanks John Guy, to peg the spot when i found my first one last year. And 2 more were nearby. Here today, gone tomorrow.

04.01.2022 White Spider Orchids, in the remnant bushland south west W.A. I was asked recently how long they last.? This mild September, lasting 7-8 days. But a frost or hot day can fry them in 2.

03.01.2022 The Stirling Range, W.A. Pulling the covers over its head. Happily isolating from humans over the Easter break...!
