10.01.2022 Two of WAs rising young swim stars are ready to make a splash at the 2015 Junior World Championships starting in Singapore tomorrow morning. West Coasts very own Damian Fyfe & Tamsin Cook with their coach Michael Palfery joined the rest of the 30-strong Australian team in Singapore last week and are now ready to test themselves against the best young swimmers from all over the world. Both swimmers will help kick-start the Australian teams campaign by racing on the opening ...day of competition. Damians 400m Freestyle is the opening event of the Championships tomorrow morning. He follows that up the next day with his individual 200m Freestyle on Wednesday and we will all be hoping he is in the mix for a finals berth later the same day. Damian then forms part of Australias 4x200m Freestyle Relay team that takes on 19 other countries on Friday morning chasing a coveted berth in the evenings finals program. Podium finishes are also within reach for Tamsin who has a busy program with three individual events and a relay swim or two over the six days of competition. She dives into the water tomorrow morning in a heat of the 4x200m Freestyle Relay, which we hope will also lead to an evening final for the Australian team. The coaching team had to make a tough decision for the Wednesday program by dropping Tamsin from one of her pet events, the 800m Freestyle. Instead theyve opted for her to direct all of her energy that day towards the 200m Butterfly in which she is seeded the 3rd fastest swimmer. Tamsin will go into Fridays 400m Freestyle with a days rest under her belt and as the fastest seed in a very hot field. She then wraps up her campaign on Saturday night in the fastest heat of the gruelling 1500m Freestyle. All the very best to Damian, Tamsin, Mick and the rest of the Australian team from everyone at West Coast Swimming Club. You can keep track of their performances by visiting http://www.omegatiming.com/Competition.

06.01.2022 OLYMPIC DREAMS Australian Olympic legend Dawn Fraser joined forces with our own Olympian Blair Evans at Swimming WA HQ earlier tonight to entertain an enthusiastic audience, which included UWA-West Coast committee members Stuart Moran, Nat Benjanuvatra and Steve Hill. Good luck to Blair at next weeks National Short Course Championships in Sydney, the next step in her quest to make it back on to the Australian Olympic team. And heres a future trivia question: 1. Who was the... last swimmer to wear a West Coast cap at a National Championships? & 2. Who was the first UWA-West Coast swimmer to represent the Club at a National Championships? GO BLAIR! See more
