25.01.2022 It’s really important to remember that your lawns and gardens require a minimum of 10mm of water twice a week, to survive summer. Make sure that you apply a qua...lity wetting system such the Aquaforce and Biagra combination, to ensure soil wettability and moisture holding capability. Keeping nutritional requirements up are equally important, so fertilise regularly and lightly. Conduct a catch cup test too! It’s a great way to ensure that your lawns are getting the 10mm of water required each drink. This great little link shows you exactly how to do this https://youtu.be/seHhhHmjG_k. Cutting your irrigation back to save water will effectively result in water wasting, as your lawns and gardens will die without this minimum amount of irrigation in our summer heat. #irrigation #loveyourgarden #turf #lawn #cooling #summer #plants See more

25.01.2022 Cut worm are causing a few issues across WA at the moment. Keep your eye out for the adult moth and the larvae form in your turf in the evenings. The moths will... fly up out of the turf as you walk across it, staying low to the ground. You will know if you have a big problem, if your turf is literally dying in front of your eyes, which unfortunately means that you will have to treat your turf. https://www.agric.wa.gov.au//cutworm-pests-crops-and-pastu

22.01.2022 Natural green spaces are so very important in times of lockdown, they are safe places to exercise in these crisis times. We need to be supportive of those who w...ork hard to ensure that we have enough healthy, living, green spaces and places for community benefit. Thank you to the turf maintenance sector the Sports Turf Association - WA, for continuing to grow turf for community benefit, and for all that you do, to ensure that our landscapes stay green and cool and in great shape. It is our pleasure to provide superior, premium quality turf for these places and spaces here in WA . 21.01.2022 It’s just not natural! Creating dead earth underneath, heating up the environment, certainly not the water saver it’s claimed to be! If a 1 litre plastic bottle... takes 10 litres of water to be made, how much water is used to make a square metre of plastic grass? A lot! It’s not only the plastic that’s an issue, it’s the rubber tyre crumbs within that also cause harm to the environment and apparently to human and animal health. This is in our view, is a sound and sensible decision. Creating excellent soil health and soil moisture retention affords natural, living plants such as turf, the opportunity to provide a multitude of benefits more profound than plastic grass can ever claim. Well maintained irrigated turf is proven as the best urban cooling surface (refer to link below). 100% cover of the planet with natural, living grasses, plants, shrubs and trees is the ideal to keep the planet healthy and cool, for survival. Bugger plastic! https://www.turfaustralia.com.au//FactSheet%20Turf%20is%20 A wise decision by the following the following Local Government Authorities; City of Belmont, WA City Of Fremantle Town of Victoria Park @City of Canning Peppermint Grove Shire Town of Claremont Stephen Dawson MLC Department of Water and Environmental Regulation See more

08.01.2022 The supply and installation of new turf for one our local Western Australian farmers. First we turf cut and removed the old struggling lawn. We then spread and levelled 8m3 of special lawn mix fresh from The RichGro soil yard. Once the site was smooth and turf start fertiliser was, we then installed 400m of fresh Neergabby Soft Leaf Buffalo all in a single day.

07.01.2022 Yesterday was International Women's Day. I would like to today highlight the amazing Women in Turf in WA. These are the women who are the Operational Managers ...for their turf farms, the women who are the office administrators, the organizers, the behind the scenes coordinators, the ladies who ensure that trucks are loaded with turf for delivery along with the products required to install turf well. They can also be the ones who mow and harvest turf, load it, and then arrange for delivery and invoicing etc. They are the often the all rounders who are unsung in our industry. Today we sing the praises of the Women in Turf in WA for without them our turf farms wouldn't be what they are today. These are some of our women in Turf - Thank you girls; Bec Sellick, Lawn Doctor - Vice Chairperson Turf Australia and her team of administrators, and daughter Alira Duffy who works on the ground in turf Leanne Pitiskas and the office administration team at Greenacres Turf Group Julie Bull Office Administrator - Bullsbrook Turf Jenny Maas, Accounts - Greenfields and Bullsbrook Turf Kelly Vidovich - Operational and Accounts Manager, Betta Turf Sharon Anderson - Administrator, West Coast Turf Kerrin Kirkwood - Mother and coordinator of the team, and administration at West Coast Turf Vicki and Bec Clayton - Office and Operational managers, Down South Turf Sophie Cooke - Owner and Operational Manager, Ord Valley Turf Cher Greenhill - Owner and administrator, Greenhills Turf Farm Tracy Ferguson - Administrator, AG Buffalo Turf Supplies Anelle - Farm Manager, True Blue Turf See more

07.01.2022 Another great idea using old pallets for those that have plenty of room in the garden.

06.01.2022 Believe it or not, right now is the perfect time to install your new lawn. You will require less water establishing your new lawn and whilst it may take a coupl...e of weeks longer to fully establish due to lower temperatures and less sunlight, it will be ready and raring to go for Spring. 05.01.2022 Tips for your home lawns before winter sets in. 1. Lift your mower height as growth rates slow 2. Fertilise now with a quality slow release fertiliser, to keep ...your lawn healthy and vital during dormancy 3. Regularly clean leaf litter from your lawn to allow as much sunlight as possible on leaf 4. Apply a quality wetting agent and water retainer so that winter rains arent wasted 5. Weed out winter grass and broad leaf weeds now to stop the smothering the turf underneath 6. Check that youre not over irrigating now that we have cooler days and nights. Water logging can rot areas of turf 7. Get out and enjoy your lawns and gardens while you can #biagra #aquaforcewettingagent #loveyourlawn #waterretentionagent #naturallawnisbest #familytime #enjoythesunshinewhileyoucan See more

02.01.2022 It exacerbates the urban heat island effect, is not a good bushfire retardant, is not biodegradable and gets in the way of important wildlife. Are we missing anything?

02.01.2022 With all the government focus on banning plastics I have to say this! Plastic carpet, aka synthetic turf, should also be banned! Fake grass by and large can not... be recycled, or safely disposed of, it creates dead earth, and heat island, it smells offensively if animals urinate and defecate on it, it needs to washed with water to cool it and clean it, soaking nasties through into the soil underneath it and into our waterways and oceans via storm water drainage. It is often full of chemical toxins from crumbed tyre rubber. It is combustible, it burns, not only literally but it causes burns to animals and humans. It is not environmentally friendly or beneficial in any way. Not to mention how much water is used to make the stuff. One 1 litre plastic bottle takes 10 litres of water to be made, imagine how many thousands of litres it takes to make artificial turf! Strips of this horrible stuff have been found inside turtles and seabirds too. It really should be put on the list of plastic products that require banning. It’s not the water saver it claims to be and it’s covering large tracts in our urban environments! There is a sea of this stuff in our suburbs. It’s not natural, in any way shape or form and never will be. It doesn’t last a lifetime like natural turf grasses can do if well maintained. Just because it’s green, don’t be fooled, there’s nothing environmentally green about it. With the planet warming as it is, for whatever reason, artificial grass simply contributes to heating the environment more. If you agree that synthetic turf (plastic carpet) should be banned please share. #heatwave #heatisland #plasticfree #naturalisbest #natural #banplasticturf See more

02.01.2022 For regional communities, private green spaces, lawns and gardens are more important than we realise. In places where the heat comes up from the ground as well ...as belting down from the sky, a patch of turf a garden and trees around the homestead can provide enormous benefits, mental and physical wellbeing being the most obvious. These areas can also mean the difference between losing a home to fire or not. Water is even more precious in this circumstance. Its a matter of utilising water at a minimum to its greatest capacity. This farm, uses a 2000 gallon tank as a fertigator. They use soak water, in which Aquaforce wetting agent, Biagra soil moisture retainer and seasol are added. Irrigating once a week for 20 - 30 minutes per shift (on clay/loam soils), with a butterfly sprinkler. Regular light feeds of pelletised chicken manure and a quality slow release, carbon coated amino fertiliser, ensures that plant health is good and keeps everything looking great. This main area of turf is approximately one year old. Other areas are only a few months in situ. Even with recent temperatures in the 40s and high humidity, the turf and gardens, including vegetables, are thriving. The temperature on the surface is far cooler than the gravel driveway (which is is the natural soil type in the area) and the dry paddocks surrounding. This garden provides a pleasant respite after a long, hot day out in the paddocks. Regional folk value their natural green spaces immensely, and rightly so. See more
