25.01.2022 It's a bit late - but it's always good to reflect on the past (fire) year. Given we were on reduced activity due to Covid for a number of months, we still managed as a brigade to have our most active year ever (although not in incident hours, which is great). A huge thanks to all our members, who put in a huge effort over the last year, even with it's challenges. Thanks also to the Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA for the great graphic. 24.01.2022 West Gidge will be conducting a couple of hazard reduction burns tomorrow (Sunday 11th October). These will be at 86 Barbarich Drive and 18 & 29 Eagleglen Rise. Commencing at 11am, all burns should be complete around 5pm. Please take care if you are in the area of smoke and fire personnel.
23.01.2022 The border closures are down, and Santa has all the appropriate clearances to again help out the West Gidge brigade with our annual santa lolly run! Sunday 20th December, starting at 5pm, will see Santa again travelling the West Gidge area. He will be covering his three usual routes between 5 and 6pm. If you are having a party and want us to drop in, please comment below or message the page. We can usually drop in for a few minutes.

19.01.2022 West Gidge brigade will be conducting a hazard reduction burn tomorrow (Saturday 3rd October) at 1263 Toodyay Rd (opposite the red hill tip). Burn will commence about 1pm, and conclude around 5pm. Please take care should there be any smoke in the area, and as always please look out for fire personnel.
15.01.2022 Due to forecast weather conditions, all permits for running fire have been suspended for the entire weekend (24th October and 25th October). Permits for heaps are still allowed, however please note carefully that weather conditions for some (or much) of the weekend are expected to exceed the maximums allowed in your permit conditions - which will make your permit invalid. Of particular note are the conditons around fire danger rating, and wind speed. Our preference would be for all residents to postpone burning until milder conditions occur. Please be extremely careful with any burning you do proceed with over the weekend.
10.01.2022 EDIT: BURN CANCELLED We have cancelled this burn as weather conditions will be hotter and drier than expected, and so the burn is too risky for us to attempt at this time. ---------------------------------------... Both West and East Gidge will be conducting a hazard reduction burn on Saturday 17th October. Burn will be the road verge of Reen Road, starting around 2km from Toodyay road. Lighting will commence approximately 3pm, and the burn will continue until around 9pm. All care is being taken to make the impact of the burn on Reen road as small as possible - but there will very likely be both smoke and fire appliances on the road at times during the burn period. If you are driving in the area please take extreme care.
