22.01.2022 How is this for any idyllic spot to pass the time of day? Today, we are on the shore of Lake Glenmaggie, located on the Macalister River near the township of Glenmaggie. A popular place for many reasons, including boating, walking, fishing and bird life. The water from the lake is very important to the neighboring farmers in the Macalister Irrigation District (MID) and is managed by our friends at Southern Rural Water.... More information on projects we have worked on in and around the MID can be found on our website. https://bit.ly/318abJi

18.01.2022 All of our waterways are special to us, and we love any chance we get to spend quality time out and about exploring them. Seems to us these birds share our love as well, as they enjoy this fresh water in the wetland at the Perry Bridge. Over the last few years, we have worked in partnership with HVP Plantations and farmers, in and around the Perry River, as part of our Protecting the Ponds project, to fence and revegetate the waterway to reduce sediment loads into the Gipps...land Lakes. You can read all about this great project on our website. www.wgcma.vic.gov.au/our-regi/projects/protecting-our-ponds

15.01.2022 Wetlands are the 'kidneys' of our river systems, cleansing the water as it makes its way across them before returning to the river or lakes system. When full they provide a great habitat for thousands of native bugs and other critters. Hear from Elsa as she explains the vital function wetlands have.... If you'd like to check out one particular project where a private landholder has decided to protect a wetland area, check out the longer version of this video at https://bit.ly/34zTuHt

13.01.2022 Landcare groups right across Gippsland are doing great work in our environment. One of them is the Tanjil Valley Landcare Group which has been running for 30 years. Its key project is the work around Blue Rock Lake but it's done lots of work to protect rivers and enhance bio-diversity along the way too.... Check out long time member Charlie Pinch on our podcast series Gippslandscapes - he's a real living treasure! *image taken prior to COVID-19 restrictions. https://bit.ly/3jzExee

11.01.2022 It's not just Guns n Roses singing about November Rain...spring rains have been welcomed by farmers, and local waterways are enjoying the experience too! With more than 200 millimetres of rain having fallen in some areas of the Latrobe and Thomson catchments over the last 90 days, both of those rivers and the downstream wetland areas and Lake Wellington are seeing their best flows in more than eight years.

04.01.2022 What does sustainability mean to a dairy farmer? To Fish Creek farmer, Graeme, it's a pathway to operating a business with minimal effect on the environment, while producing healthy and nutritious food. Check out these beautiful photos of their South Gippsland farm and listen to how he farms in a sustainable way https://bit.ly/3lDnzgH ... GippsDairy Dairy Australia

02.01.2022 Fancy a bit of inspiration? Well, do we have a podcast episode for you! Check out the Gippslandscapes podcast discussion with Karl Russo from Woolamai. He and his family are in for the long haul as they plant out and care for 100 acres of pretty harshly treated country and bring it back to life. See how it's going in the short vid below... The discussion with Karl is a ripper - get it here https://bit.ly/2UIcQFV or wherever you get your pods!
