25.01.2022 News Flash! In 2019 Westbury is celebrating 180 years of education. What an amazing achievement for our community! To commemorate, on Friday 25 October 2019 from 1.30pm-7pm the maypole committee will be returning to our home ground at Westbury Primary. The school will host an open day and fair with maypole dancing at the heart of the celebrations. The below photos were of the original school house on Taylor Street. In the coming months we will be posting more historic photos. Do you have any photos or memories that could be shared?

22.01.2022 Rain, hail or shine (or wind), Westbury180 will still go ahead! We have a wonderful history display that has been lovingly prepared by Amanda Taylor and the Westbury Historical Society.

21.01.2022 Students are back to school today and that can only mean.... Westbury180 is on next Friday!! We have some very special surprises in store to commemorate the occasion including an amazing piece of artwork commissioned by local artist Susannah Curtis that will be unveiled at the open day. The artwork is made using recycled materials and has a personal touch from all students and staff!

20.01.2022 On Friday, we are lucky enough to have Tim Gambles coming to serenade us with some wonderful music. Tim is a former student of Westbury Primary School and we are excited to have him back to celebrate Westbury180 with us.

18.01.2022 Can you help with the safe return of our sign? We are missing one of our roadside signs, removed from the Bass Highway near Westbury, Launceston side near the Westbury off ramp. 16.01.2022 To reflect the 180 year celebration of education in Westbury 2019 the Westbury Maypole Festival Page will be changing our name to Westbury180! The event will be very similar to our past Maypole Festivals but will be held at the current Westbury Primary School grounds on Taylor Street. #Westbury180

School Tours, Special Celebration of 180yrs, Music, Maypole Dancing, Face Painting, Bouncy Castles, Zorb Balls, Puppet Show, Entertainment and Lots of amazing Food!! We will also have a history display and the 1989 Time Capsule on display before we rebury it with our 2019 Time capsule. Both to be opened in 2039! Make sure you save the date! 08.01.2022 We found it! Thank you to everyone who offered ideas, suggestions or assistance in finding the our time capsule. A big shout to Meander Valley Constructions, Sc...ot Groves, Amanda Watkins and AJs Water and Leak Detection who all helped in the search. The contents of the time capsule will be on display at our Westbury180 celebration on October 25th. We hope to see as many ex students as possible. See more

07.01.2022 Did you know that prior to the construction of the bluestone building on Dexter Street, Westbury State School was in a number of temporary locations, including the Old Post Office, Roman Catholic Chapel and the Former Military Hospital. The attached photo is believed to be taken in 1886 outside the Former Military Hospital on Lonsdale Promenade. This building, built in 1832, was later dismantled and taken to Harold Georges farm on Birralee Road and converted to a farm barn.

07.01.2022 At Westbury180 we will be cooking and selling Pizzas to raise money for the grade 5/6 camp. If youd like to order a pizza in advance, please complete the following form. Please note: Pizzas will be available for purchase on the day. Pickup of online orders in between 5:30pm and 6:00pm.... *****Online pizza orders have now CLOSED***** This year, we will be adding to the pavers in the courtyard.
