23.01.2022 We've all heard of the phrase "from here to Timbuktu" - well it's an actual city in the country of Mali (West Africa). The photo below is of Beatrice Stockli, an evangelical missionary from Switzerland who had lived in Timbuktu since 2000. She was captured by Islamic terrorists in 2016 & was held hostage until she was killed about a month ago. The Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs have issued a statement expressing their sadness at the event. So that tells you... the story is real - not simply some propaganda invented to stir up trouble. An al-Qaeda terrorist who claimed responsibility for her kidnapping said in a video that Beatrice had "declared war against Islam in her attempt to Christianize Muslims." There is a war going on; its origin is in the heavenlies but often finds its expression here on Earth. Remember, prayer is not preparation for warfare - it is the warfare. See more

20.01.2022 As you come to church this Sunday consider Ps 91:2 which declares that the Lord is "my fortress" meaning he is our security from attack. V3 says he will protect from "deadly disease." Things we can do to stay safe from the Corona virus: * give a wave, elbow bump or foot tap as a greeting instead of shaking hands * use the hand gel provided as you enter & leave the building... * give some space to your neighbour when you take your seat in the auditorium (leave a gap of one seat between you & the next person) https://www.youtube.com/watch

During this time orders (fatwas) can be handed out by Islamic leaders & sometimes these include instruction to commit acts of holy war (jihad) against unbelievers.
