17.01.2022 Happy New Year to all my beautiful customers, staff, friends and family. This year has been a challenge in more ways than one. Personally, my overwhelming feeling tonight is one of exhaustion. It’s been a push to keep the doors open at West Coast Honey whilst maintaining my most important job, being a Mum. I’m generally not one to take much time to reflect, or to share those thoughts, but tonight I find myself pondering the year ahead. I look forward to seeing all those familiar faces back in the shop, sorting you guys out with the best honey & keeping you caffeinated! I have a few small projects ready to go in 2021, so stay tuned to see them completed. Enjoy the celebrations and may 2021 be a wonderful year for us all- full of smiles, happiness and good health.

15.01.2022 Beeswax is secreted from glands on the abdomen of the bee. Bees need to eat about seven kilograms of honey to make one kilogram of beeswax. Bees lay the wax do...wn into hexagonal cells called comb. After the honey is deposited into the cell the bees cap it off with beeswax so it is air-tight and no moisture can get in. When the honey is extracted by the beekeeper the cells are uncapped and this wax is then separated from the honey by spinning and then melted down and further filtered into blocks to be sold.

01.01.2022 This weekend, I’m asking every Western Australian to shop local. While a short sharp lockdown to keep WA virus free was the right option for the state, it does...n’t mean many local hospitality venues, retail stores and other local businesses weren’t affected when they had to shut or restrict their trading. While the State Government is providing assistance to businesses right across the state, there’s something we can all do too to help as well.
