15.01.2022 You may have seen in the press lately that Hugh Jackman has become a spokesperson against the dangers of skin cancer. Having grown up in Australia back in the d...ays where we barely slipped, slopped and slapped, consequently he is now facing regular check-ups and regular cut-outs! Hugh has just had his 5th Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) removed from his face. Although BCC may not be as deadly as melanoma, it is still the most common form of skin cancer, with almost 300,000 cases diagnosed in Australia every year. It usually develops on skin exposed to the sun such as the head, neck and back of hands, but is especially common on the face and nose. While it rarely results in death, the Australasian College of Dermatologists warns it can result in serious damage to the face if left untreated. Sometimes the removal of a BCC or a Squamous Cell Carcinoma can lead to a pretty serious amount of cutting and stitching. It truly is something to be avoided. To find out more, have a look at the article below. http://www.abc.net.au//hugh-jackman-has-fifth-skin/7150972

11.01.2022 1 in 5 Americans will be diagnosed with skin cancer in their lifetime. Dont ignore the signs.

10.01.2022 Brent had a mole on his chest that was changing and growing. He went to the doctor after a long campaign from me to get it looked at. And straight away we were into melanoma, into surgery, into taking little bits of tissue from other places. We were in overnight stays, me driving up and down to the hospital to be with him while he was afraid. And we were in fear, the waiting on results that will shape your lives. Days of waiting. https://www.mamamia.com.au/how-to-avoid-sunburn/

08.01.2022 S K I N C A N C E R // WARNING confronting images* This subject is quite raw for me as my husband, Ryan was diagnosed with Melanoma in Nov 2018. ...After 40 odd biopsies of his neck and back, 1 of his lung and 4 surgeries, what started out so small, turned into something that none of us were ready for. The thing is, with any skin cancer, not only do they remove the affected area of skin, but they also take a boundary around it. Ryans boundaries kept coming back abnormal, which was then found to be a skin condition called Nevus Spillus. Its very rare for it to transition into melanoma, but in his case it did. In May 2019 a large area of skin from his neck and back needed to be taken. So in his 4th surgery, Ryan had a skin graft, removing skin from both legs to cover section on his neck and back. The strength that Ryan has had through this whole process amazes me, not only has he managed his pain considerably well but he has kept it together. This whole experience has been hugely challenging for all of us, but if anything good is to come out of this, it is that we now want to help raise more awareness of Skin Cancer. Melanoma accounts for 10% of all skin cancers, which is why it is so important that everyone has regular skin checks. Your life is too precious to just bake yourself in the sun and not worry about your skin. #melanomawa #skincancer #alittlebeauty #alittlebeautyperth #skincanceraware #skincancerawareness #skincancerprevention #spf #sunsafe #wearsunscreen #protectyourskin #cancercouncilwa #cancercouncil #skincancers #skincancerscreening #takecareofyourskin #sunsafety #slipslopslap #skintips #skincaretips #beautytips #sundamage #getchecked #skinchecks #melanomaawareness #staysunsafe #healthyskin #perthskin See more
