23.01.2022 SUMMER HOCKEY ROSTER -

22.01.2022 West Devonport Hockey Club is proud to announce it has signed a new coach for the 2021 Greater Northern Mens Hockey League season. With an impressive representative coaching resume including multiple indoor hockey coaching appointments and as head coach of the Tasmanian under 15 outdoor team in 2019, Nathan Dart has will take up the position with the hope to make the Dragons more competitive next season. Dart is excited by the prospect of taking the Dragons up the ladder.... It’s something new for me, Dart said. I haven’t done GNL for a while and it’s a great challenge. The platform the club has set over the last year or two is something great to work with in terms of past coaches and from my belief the culture is better than most in the GNL. West Devonport’s men had a torrid season last year in the Greater Northern League, scoring its only goal in the final match of the year against Burnie Baptist, something Dart hopes to improve on. I build my coaching around defence first, he said. So for me it’s working on that platform, from there trying to allow the team to get itself out of defence and into a good attacking positions. It’s about setting up our defensive network. Everyone can score goals but it’s how we get into that attacking opportunity. West Devonport has a band of talented junior boys coming through and the opportunity to work with them was a drawcard for Dart. From a junior perspective, fantastic, Dart said. They make a good percentage of up and coming juniors in the GNL and knowing that West Devonport is so keen to develop the club from grass roots up, I’m so happy to work with juniors to that end. Dart’s philosophy on coaching will be tested but West Devonport believe he is up for the challenge. West Devonport hopes to announce a Greater Northern Womens coach in the coming weeks as well as a division two and three leaders.

22.01.2022 Meet our new State Reps Molly Davey, Hayden Davey and Noah Purton. These three have been selected to represent Tasmania in Bathurst next year with the under 15 teams. #WestIsBest #Haydo #Noah #Molly #StateReps
