06.01.2022 In this first edition of our regular Showgirl Saturday series we sit down and catch up with 2020/21 Winner Hollie Giles, we take up the story just after Showday... 2020.... Hi! Since being announced 2020/21 show girl in March the world has definitely changed! Like everyone, this year has not played out as I was expecting. During covid-19 lockdown I spent the time finishing up some study and utilising government and TAFE digital’s offer for free online short courses. As my partner and my Dad work together, and my grandparents live with my parents, we had our own little Covid safe bubble which meant we were able to spend lots of time with my family over Easter and in the thick of the lockdown, we were SO thankful for this, as we are very aware that many people in the community were unable to see special people for extended periods of time. Once the restrictions eased and we were able to travel with in NSW once again, we took the opportunity to make a road trip south to Thredbo for a couple days of attempted skiing and sightseeing. To my surprise, my beautiful partner proposed on the trip! Shortly after we returned from our trip my partner was offered a job in QLD, we were planning on working between the two states for the remainder of the year before we made the decision to move or not. That changed when they announced they would be shutting the QLD border! So in 3 days we packed up all our belonging and moved into the storeroom at my partners work in Gympie QLD! Thankfully we have now found a beautiful little rental on the sunny Sunshine Coast and are counting down the days until we can get back to NSW to see our friends and family again. We are just playing everything by ear, trying to plan our wedding and seeing what the last of 2020 and the start of 2021 has in store! Best wishes, Hollie
