17.01.2022 There will be a calcutta run again this year at the Meet and Greet Friday night down at the race track. Tickets are on sale now at the Corfield Pub or you can ...contact Liz Godfrey ([email protected] or FB this page/her directly). Tickets are $5 dollars each OR you can buy 5 tickets for only $20...yes that's right...you'll get a FREE ticket! For those that don't know how a calcutta works here is a general explanation: Calcutta tickets costing $5 are sold until a certain time on Meet and Greet night. The ticket sales create a "pool" of money called the "starting pool". There will then be a Calcutta draw performed at Meet and Greet. All horses from the main race will go into a draw as well as all tickets that were bought. A horse is drawn and then a name...this is the "horse drawer". After all horses have been drawn, an auction is performed. Anyone can buy a horse in the auction but if you were lucky enough to have "drawn" that horse AND be the highest bidder...you only have to pay half the purchase price. If however, you draw a horse but DON'T buy it...you receive half the purchase price of that horse. If you buy a horse and HAVEN'T drawn it...you have to pay the full purchase price! You will then have to wait till after the horses race Saturday to see how you fair! Payout to horse drawers and winners will not be until after the race Saturday. See more
16.01.2022 SUPPORT THE RALLY FOR QLD RACING... To all industry stakeholders, For the very first time in the history of Qld racing and breeding, all industry sectors have united as one for a common cause.... As a result, a public rally will be held at 10am on Wednesday December 16 at Doomben racecourse where the group of attendees will be asked to support the resolutions outlined below. Never before has the need to gather as a show of strength been more imperative and we encourage EVERYONE to attend this meeting if at all possible. However, for those that cannot be there on the day, there are two ways to register support for the resolutions. The 1st of those is to LIKE on Facebook the Rally For Qld Racing page (https://www.facebook.com/rallyforqldracing/). This is the preferred option. The 2nd opportunity is to email [email protected] and state: I SUPPORT THE RESOLUTIONS BEING PUT FORWARD AT RACING RALLY ON WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 16 AT DOOMBEN RACECOURSE. RESOLUTIONS 1. The Industry rejects the proposal to implement a Board with a majority membership of non-industry knowledgeable people. 2. The Industry requires the government to, within 1 month, appoint a Board under the current structure, with appropriate input from Industry. 3. That until a Board has been implemented and given sufficient time to assess the current situation and devise and agree a strategy, no changes are implemented.
