18.01.2022 In response to the 5 day lock down implemented in WA due to the recent community transmission of Covid 19, Western Obstetrics has made the decision to postpone all non-essential care to the week commencing 8th February. In regard to consultations, where possible, Telehealth consultations will be utilised to provide care to our patients. In some cases this will not be possible, and in these circumstances face to face consultations will s...till occur. All current patients with appointments this coming week will be contacted within the next 12 - 36 hours and informed of whether their appointment will be in person or by Telehealth. All patients who will require face to face consultations will be called on the day prior to their appointment for screening to ensure they are not at risk of Covid 19. 14.01.2022 I N T R O D U C I N G D R C H I E H C H E N G Dr Chieh Cheng completed her medical training at the University of Western Australia (UWA) in 2004 and proceeded to work in various specialties at several hospitals in Perth, before deciding on a career in GP Obstetrics. She then went on to complete her Advance GP Obstetric Diploma at King Edward Memorial Hospital and Diploma of Child Health at Princess Margaret Hospital. In 2010, Dr Cheng moved to Albany where she enjoyed w...orking as a rural GP Obstetrician for 7 years. Dr Cheng moved back to Perth in 2017 where she worked in the Perth hills, delivering babies at Bentley hospital until 2020. She speaks fluent Mandarin and enjoys watching Masterchef and eating all different kinds of cuisines. Dr Cheng is one of our wonderful GP Obstetricians working at Western Obstetrics and appointments can be booked with her at both our Midland and Osborne Park Locations. 12.01.2022 R E D N O S E D A Y 2 0 2 0 Red Nose Day was founded in 1977 by grieving parents who wanted to make sure the devastating impact of the death of their child never happened to anyone else by finding out why their babies and children die suddenly and unexpectedly and then educating parents and health professionals about how to prevent it. Since this date there has been an 85% reduction in the numbers of babies lost to SIDS in Australia, through SIDS education and knowle...dge-sharing of how to care for babies during sleep. The work of Red Nose Day still continues today. Whilst there has been an 85% reduction in the numbers of babies lost to SIDS, 3000 toddlers and pre-schoolers still die suddenly each year. Together with the support of the community, Red Nose Day vow to reach zero and stop little lives being cut short once and for all Western Obstetrics supports this great initiative through education with our patients both during pregnancy and after your precious little baby is born.
