16.01.2022 WHAT WE'VE DONE WEDNESDAY Today marks Remembrance Day. Each year on November 11 at 11am, we pause for 1 minute to acknowledge those who served, and continue to serve. WWI started in July 1914 and troops returning, formed the RSL (Returned and Services League of Australia) in June 1916 which share a common history, a common purpose and a common place in the hearts and minds of Australians. Clubs were created in communities across Australia with the purpose of preserving the sp...irit of mateship formed amidst the carnage and horror of battle, to honour the memory of the fallen and to help each other whenever required. Throughout the years, RSL Clubs have significantly improved and expanded their facilities and services for the benefit of the whole community. Westmead Hospital Foundation are grateful for the support that we receive from RSL Clubs and the community. Through sponsorships and generous donations from Castle Hill RSL, Blacktown RSL Club Ltd, Granville RSL Club, Merrylands RSL Club, Parramatta Leagues Club, Rootyhill RSL, Smithfield RSL, St Marys Rugby League Club, we have been able to make a difference at Westmead Hospital with new equipment. For over 20 years, Seven Hills RSL Club have generously donated nearly $20,000 through sponsorship at events to the humble coin box that still remains on the premise today. We are so grateful for the generosity we receive from RSL Clubs who support Westmead Hospital and the wider community. #WWDW #WhatWeveDoneWednesday #RSLClubs #1MS

12.01.2022 IT'S STARTING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS!!! Everyone agrees, it's has been a long hard year and especially challenging for our healthcare staff and patients at Westmead Hospital. A massive THANK YOU goes to all the wonderful people who made this project possible, specifically: The Christmas Tree Company; Westmead Hospital Foundation Board; Rebecca Tyson, General Manager Westmead and Auburn Hospitals; and Renata Melan, Director Corporate Services and our major sponsor - Australian award-winning furniture company, Kinglivingfurniture.

12.01.2022 WHAT WE'VE DONE WEDNESDAY Baxter International Inc. has supported the Foundation since 1992 and in that time, have generously donated over $300,000. For many years, their support has enabled the Foundation to carry out fundraising events, provide equipment to Westmead Hospital and in 2013, Baxter Healthcare assisted in the development of the Mootang Tarimi Program.... Mootang Tarimi (meaning ‘living longer’ in Darug language) is a screening van outreach service for Aboriginal people 16 years and over and is part of the Chronic Care for Aboriginal People program which is a State initiative. The van serviced the community within the Western Sydney Local Health District and today, still exists and services the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health Districts. In 2006, and on Baxter Healthcare’s 75th anniversary, the Foundation and Baxter’s launched its ‘Making a Meaningful Difference’ fund. The Fund enabled the Foundation to fund wishes of both patients at staff at Westmead Hospital. This included medical equipment to assist in the care of patients or requests that did not fit within the parameters of essential hospital needs. In 2007, the fund provided four LCD flatscreens to the Palliative Care Unit that were wired to individual nurse call bells and benefited everyone. With four patients in one ward, the donation of the flatscreens provided some peace between patients and families that visited, creating a less stressful environment for hospital staff who often ensured patients were comfortable. Thank you Baxter Healthcare, for making a big difference to the healthcare at Westmead Hospital. #WWDW #WhatWeveDoneWednesday #BaxterHealthcare

11.01.2022 WHAT WE'VE DONE WEDNESDAY It may be a petrol head's dream, and for over ten years, the annual car event that was organised by the community group ‘Cruzin For A Cure’ also had a serious purpose. Before he died of a brain tumour in 2004, Peter Moore told friends and family about his dream of organising a cruise by car clubs to raise funds for Westmead, where he had received wonderful treatment and care.... The event set up later that year to honour his wish, ‘Cruzin for a Cure’, attracted more than 100 Mustangs, Corvettes and V8s. The lead car was always the 1968 Mustang which Pete built from a shell and finally got to drive in 2003. The events raised more than $80,000 for brain tumour-related research and equipment at Westmead. Thanks to this fundraising initiative and the muscle car fanatics, the Foundation was able to purchase a CUSA (Cavitron Ultrasonic Aspirator) machine, which is used to break up and aspirate (suck away) abnormal tissue during surgery. We are so grateful for the support of the community. If you would like to help or to learn more, contact us at [email protected] #WhatWeveDoneWednesday #WWDW #CruzinForACure

11.01.2022 2020 has been particularly difficult for everyone in one way or another and through it all, Coleman Greig Lawyershave been there to support the Foundation in making a difference to the patients and staff at Westmead Hospital. For every donation made Coleman Greig matched their contribution. A huge thank you to Coleman Greig Lawyers, for their unwavering support and for donating their gifts for a great cause. To end what has been a tough year for all, over $3,000 has been donated through this heartfelt initiative. Thank you to each and every staff member at Coleman Greig Lawyers. 05.01.2022 WHAT WE'VE DONE WEDNESDAY A Night with the Stars was the Foundation's premier fundraising event in the early 2000’s. Raising awareness and funds for Westmead Hospital and the Western Sydney community, over the years the event attracted big name singers, actors and hosts such as Tim Campbell, Grant Denyer, Jessica Mauboy and Jessica Rowe to name a few. In addition to live entertainment from celebrities such as singer Anthony Callea and comedian Bob Downe, who could forget Tony... Abbott and Bronwyn Bishop singing and dancing their way across the stage at The Convention Centre in Sydney. Sponsors such as Alex Perry, Collette Dinnigan, Pandora and Captain Cook Cruises all generously donated prizes to raise money to support the most vulnerable in our society. A Night with the Stars raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for research and equipment at Westmead Hospital. Time for revival of the event? You let us know and share your photos and memories of the event, we would love to hear from you. #WhatWeveDoneWednesday #WWDW #anightwiththestars #timcampbell #grantdenyer #jessicamauboy #jessicarowe #anthonycallea #tonyabbott #bronwynbishop #alexperry #collettedinnigan #pandora #captaincookcruises

04.01.2022 As COVID-19 continues to make headlines around the world, and we keep up-to-date on hot spots, the pandemic that has swept our nation from March this year is still affecting families and entire communities. Teresa knows all too well how this feels, as unfortunately, her family all tested positive for COVID-19. Being in and out of hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic, Teresa and her family have seen the challenging situations healthcare staff are faced with, on a daily basis.... After receiving care at Westmead Hospital, Teresa wanted to give back and so she collected money to donate to the COVID-19 ward at Westmead Hospital. In just six days, she raised over $13,000 for Westmead Hospital's COVID-19 ward. Teresa is grateful for the support she received from her community and said, Thank you to you all, for your kind hearts and making my wish come true. I am so proud of you all.
