22.01.2022 The spines you see on an Echidna are long hollow hair follicles. These spines are also their main defense against predators.

21.01.2022 MEET KARIS "For as long as I can remember I have loved and adored animals, so choosing a career working with them was a no brainer. Working for West Oz Wildlife is incredible, it gives me the opportunity to work alongside the animals and the public educating not only children but adults too. I believe if we build a positive connection between animals and humans we can then together help save and preserve them"

21.01.2022 Our friends at West Oz Wildlife came for a special visit at Bethanie Waters this week. Our wonderful residents had the opportunity to hold and pat cuddly koala bears, adorable dingos and even a very friendly snake! A fantastic time was had by all. #Bethanie #community

20.01.2022 Hundreds of koalas are killed each year on roads in SEQ, with 80% of koalas hit by cars not surviving. The majority of koalas hit by cars are healthy and breedi...ng or the young adults looking for new areas to live. The losses of these animals are significantly contributing to population declines in SEQ. See more

14.01.2022 Meet Asha. "I have been part of the West Oz Wildlife family since I was 7 years old and I love it! I feel very lucky to work with such amazing animals and people and I enjoy educating others on our unique wildlife! Plus I get to cuddle koalas, kangaroos, dingoes, snakes and lizards ."

13.01.2022 NUMBAT ORPHANS RESCUED Today is #NationalThreatenedSpeciesDay, and its a timely reminder about the vulnerability of our most threatened and iconic native speci...es. Last week, a wild numbat mother was taken by a raptor in Dryandra Woodlands, leaving three orphaned numbat joeys in her burrow. Our staff rescued the joeys and they were taken to Perth Zoo to be hand raised, weaned and eventually released back into the wild. Sadly, one joey has since passed away, but we hope that its siblings will eventually gain strength and be released back where they were born at Dryandra, which is one of the last wild strongholds for this endangered species.

13.01.2022 Hmmm how to get into this

08.01.2022 Only a few spots left for Term 3

03.01.2022 West Oz Wildlife West Oz Wildlife came to visit our Kindy and Pre-primary students on Monday 2/11/20. We met Kira the Koala and learnt that koalas sleep fo...r around 20 hours a day, and that baby koalas are called joeys and like to eat gum leaves, milk from their mum and even poo!! We also got to meet Ginger, and Rex the Snake. Many of us were even brave enough to hold Rex around our necks. We learnt that snakes feel cold to touch because they are cold blooded. Other animals we met included Bob the Bobtail and Freckles the Bearded Dragon. Thank you to West Oz Wildlife for an exciting and interesting incursion!

03.01.2022 With the warmer weather around the corner, teaching little ones how to be safe with snakes couldnt be more important. Book a West Oz Wildlife incursion for your school for Term 4 by emailing [email protected] or visit our website www.westozwildlife.com
