20.01.2022 We will be running a small group, high intensity skill program - WESTSTAR BLAST over the month of June. The focus of the program will be high intensity and maximum touch drills to build player conditioning and sharpen skills in preparation for match simulation training to commence Sessions will be held on Saturday mornings from 11.00 - 12.30pm on the 6th, 13th, 20th & 27th June at Claremont Football Club ... Numbers will be limited and registration will close once weve reached capacity. The cost of the program is $99

19.01.2022 Attention all Year 6, 7 & 8 players and coaches within the Claremont District. You are invited to Claremont Oval to take part in the inaugural Claremont Football Club AFL 9s Youth Carnival. AFL 9s is a fast, free-flowing game that involves 9 players on each team playing on a smaller oval. The game focuses on skills, footy IQ and is non-contact which promotes skill execution.... The Carnival will be divided into three competitions: Year 6 Wednesday 8th July Year 7 Thursday 9th July Year 8 Friday 10th July We recommend 12 players per team to allow each player adequate rest whilst still encouraging maximum participation. The cost is $30 per player ($360 team registration fee) with all teams playing a minimum of 3 games throughout the day. A Claremont All-Star team will be selected for each competition and the three winning teams will be invited to the Claremont Football Club to participate in a coaching masterclass delivered by Claremont Football Club senior players and the WESTSTAR Football Academy. 09.01.2022 With the current restrictions allowing sports training to begin to recommence, one of the hardest things has been trying to hold some of the athletes back into ...going full bore. Its important to note that with the return to sport, correct structures will be vital to have in place for a return to perform program. If athletes are coming off a lower base than normal (and regardless, even if they have been diligent, preparation has been compromised), it will be vital to build a tolerance to areas involved in strength, maximum velocity etc. Too great a stress, too soon after a compromised preparation, is almost inviting injury. @performancecoach_wilmot and @athletesauthority posted a brilliant video on this in more detail earlier today, well worth watching, and I agree wholeheartedly with their assessment. They work to alleviate poverty in Australia by ensuring every community service provider has what it needs through the simple act of giving. WESTSTAR will be working with GIVIT to send some much needed clothing and sporting attire to the young boys and girls from Yiyilli community in the Kimberley.... 04.01.2022 Exciting news! The WESTSTAR Football Academy will be entering teams into the Claremont Football Club AFL 9s Youth Carnival. We will be entering teams into all three competitions Year 6, Year 7 & Year 8. The competitions will be played on the following dates at the Claremont Football Club:... Year 6: Wednesday 8th July Year 7: Thursday 9th July Year 8: Friday 10th July The cost to participate is $40 and youll be placed into a team once registered (add names of friends you would like to play with when registering). The day will run from 9.00 4.00pm and all participants will play three games plus a final. There will be an All-Star team selected and the winning team of each competition will be invited to the Claremont Football Club in August to attend a Claremont FC and WESTSTAR Football Academy specialist training session. You do not have to be a member of WESTSTAR to participate in the carnival so feel free to invite your friends however, please note, registrations will close once 12 teams have registered for each competition.
