24.01.2022 We're committed to providing higher education pathways for our Indigenous communities through the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Pathway Program and our Badanami Centre for Indigenous Education. "After graduating from high school, I was unsure of what career path I wanted to follow, and I realised that my ATAR results were not high enough for the course I wanted to enrol in. I was then given the opportunity to attend the pathway programs' assessment days (which a friend had mentioned to me), and I was able to study the course I had chosen due to passing the set assessments." 17.01.2022 Priya represented the School of Built Environment at the Annual 3MT competition organised by Western Sydney University. Her research is about a Smart Modern Construction Enterprise Maturity Model. Historically the world has witnessed three industrial revolutions prior to this one. The focus of Industry 4.0 is to combine production and technology and transform the way we operate. In Industry 4.0, the construction sector is living through a period of unprecedented change driven... by rapid advances in technology. With so much change, many construction companies are overwhelmed and have been collapsing at a record rate. From large contractors to smaller sub-contractors. Everybody is struggling to cope. Australia’s construction sector is the largest non-service related industry and the impact due to collapse of large contractors is significant, affecting the immediate supply chain and the country’s economy. Due to the magnitude of the problem, it is very important to understand Industry 4.0 better so that construction enterprises can take advantage of the opportunities that it brings along and transform instead of collapsing under the impact of its disruptive forces. 07.01.2022 During 2020, Maxton Fox has partnered with Western Sydney University’s School of Built Environment, working with Year 2 Industrial Design students. What a year it has been! In the beginning of the year (pre Covid-19), our Maxton Fox team briefed Year 2 students to design The Feature Chair of 2020. A single seater piece that could be used within commercial spaces.... And so, we received 40 design submissions, design pitches and models. Given the circumstances of not being able to attend University physically, and being bound to home (and the nearby neighbourhood) for the majority of the initial terms, and not being able to have access to model-making facilities regularly, we were overwhelmed by the students efforts and ideas. A lot of consideration went into each students’ chair design.
