19.01.2022 We should not assume that #workingfromhome is automatically more or less productive ; it can be either. 17.01.2022 Is it always a good idea to craft your job to suit your skills, abilities, and preferences? Our award-winning research shows that job crafting - defined as proactively making changes in ones job to improve the person-job fit- is mostly positive for workers and their companies. When crafting is about actively getting your job to fit you better through, for example, taking on new project responsibilities or negotiating more autonomy with your boss, this "approach" focused cr...afting is mostly a win-win for you and your company. But when it is referred to as avoidance crafting, which is sculpting your job to stay away from tasks you dont like or that dont use your skills, you need to be much more careful. Avoidant crafting can mean your work gets dumped on other people. Our study helps you to identify job crafting behaviours that benefit both you and your company. https://lnkd.in/dD4mxse

10.01.2022 Wish we could publish Sams interview in its entirety. Lots of wisdom and very inspiring remarks on the importance of the #relational aspects of work. We are not in a cave, most of the jobs want to isolate a person like a machine or robot. Tap tap tap. We need human touch, human talk and a chance to relax together. Encouragement. That is the most important thing, if we do something nice, we have to be noticed and be encouraged. When you get that, you give your life to that. When you are ignored and treated like a computer, when people think thats your job to do that, they give the minimum. But we are humans, we dont work like that. We can get upset so easily, but we need to be wanted. We need to be appreciated. If we arent wanted, and we are just a cog in a machine, we dont feel important.

06.01.2022 To dress or not to dress? PJs and very casual outfits are tempting while working from home. 05.01.2022 An example of a highly relational job Relational is defined as the extent to which an individual experiences a sense of support, purpose and social contact in their role. Here are some tips to make your work more relational.... If your work does not have a social club, consider starting one. If there is a social club, make a conscious effort to attend and get to know your colleagues better by showing a personal interest in their lives. Try implementing team lunches where members of a team, department or business unit meet once a week and have lunch together. This simple measure can help to boost feelings of connection whilst better understanding how different business units work. When positive external feedback is given for a project or piece of work that others have contributed towards, be sure to share this with those involved. This will help others to understand the impact their work has upon the broader system.
