19.01.2022 GOOD NEWS EVERYONE! (Whoops, Ill turn off caps ;) ). It has been two years exactly since the Western Front site was hacked (the week after Soundwave), and although I got the main site up and running again, there were some hold backs on the forum, which then turned into a social experiment, to see how the local metal scene would do without its main networking vehicle. Im proud to announce that it is back with a vengeance, fully populated with the users and discussions as it... was at the time. Facebook has offered some benefits but it could never offer a real home for metal. Jump on board the forum (you can even use your facebook login, or reanimate your previous user status) and have discussions with like minded people which wont just disappear in a day or two, promote or find out about gigs, track down that elusive band member youre needing, or just shoot the shit. It is time to bring the metal army back together, working like a well oiled machine and build up the scene bigger than it ever has been before. I recommend anyone with an interest in quality fast black / death / extreme metal to check it out - and guess what, you can see them live in Perth for the first time in ages, this Monday at the Marduk / Inquisition show! 11.01.2022 There is a screening of Scream For Me Sarajevo in Perth next week and apparently tickets include light refreshments, grazing table, and a live band, "Sharp Dressed Men", performing before the screening. Also includes a live Q&A with special guests Shane Caudwell (UN) and Sergej Vujanovic (Original opening band in Sarajevo 1994). This is an opportunity to help build the metal scene back up, and have something positive for everyone involved. 09.01.2022 Well the annual Rust In Perth fest last weekend was an absolute corker, with all the bands of varying metal styles putting on great shows, and the stand up comedy sets were an awesome inclusion and interesting intermission. Congrats to Paul Di Scerni and all involved in the organisation, and to all that performed. The Scourge reunion was definitely a highlight - Im sure people that had seen them before may have thought there would be a bit of tongue-in-cheekness to it (which... there was always going to be) but I was really impressed. It actually sounded like they hadnt stopped, and were better than ever! 02.01.2022 For all bands out there of varying levels, but especially those that want to take things up a bunch of notches without having to use trial and error or learn the hard way - you should really check out the back catalog of the Claim The Throne podcasts, available on their website https://claimthethrone.com/podcast and apparently also itunes for those that use that junk. Not only are the podcasts entertaining as hell for those not fully musically inclined and just want something... good to listen to, but they actually go into a lot of detail about how to organise gigs, tips for touring, info about getting the best out of recording, or DIY, what gear to get and a long more. But wait, theres more! This weekend they are actually doing a LIVE podcast so you can get on down and learn from these experienced fellas in person, and even throw some questions at them that you want to know in particular. Seriously, if you want to give your band a leg up or just a rip snorting good time I highly recommend heading down.
