24.01.2022 Last night former Western Bulldogs senior coach Brendan McCartney came out to Bass Recreation Reserve to take our coaches through a two hour coaching master class. The feedback from those that attended was fantastic and we thank Brendan for making the drive to share some of his knowledge and experience with West Gippslands coaches.

19.01.2022 After plenty of discussion and consultation with all clubs, tonight the West Gippsland Football Netball Competition made the decision to abandon both the Football and Netball senior season for 2020. The clubs will now turn their focus towards preparing for a 2021 senior season. The WGFNC clubs are preparing for a 2020 competition for their u16s and u18s football and u11s, u13s, u15s and u17s netball. Any players in those age groups considering playing in 2020 should be in contact with their club if they have not done so already to help establish which clubs will field which teams. Once clubs have established teams, a competition fixture will be prepared and the length of the season will be announced.

This... means means community sport, either training or playing, is suspended from Wednesday until further notice. 05.01.2022 Please see below the following statement from AFL Gippsland which will come into effect for the West Gippsland FNC. The WGFNC will consult with its member clubs over the coming weeks to determine the required adjustments for the 2020 fixture. We thank all our clubs and supporters for their patience as we work through this complex issue.

05.01.2022 After extensive consultation with the WGFNC clubs this week, the league has made the decision to abandon the 2020 season for the Under 16s and Under 18s football and 11 & Under, 13 & Under, 15 & Under and 17 & Under netball competitions. Whilst this announcement will understandably disappoint many, half of the leagues clubs have been directly impacted by the return to COVID-19 related Stage 3 conditions. In dealing with the uncertainty beyond the 6 week lock down period, ...it was agreed that a clear direction from the league to its members, volunteers and supporters was needed regarding the 2020 season. This now gives all the ability for all those involved in the WGFNC to turn their focus towards the 2021 competition which promises to be the best build up to a season in years. From now until then, clubs may choose to organise practice matches amongst themselves should the restrictions permit them to be played and AFL Gippsland will assist those clubs in any way possible. Thank you to all those that committed to making a junior team season in 2020 possible. Whilst it fell short, it certainly wasnt without the effort and intention of clubs wanting to make it happen.
