24.01.2022 You’ve probably heard the term ‘mum brain’ tossed around your circle of friends at some point or another. Whether you’ve misplaced your keys or forgotten your husband's name Hey! Be honest! It happens! Mum Brain is the perfect scapegoat for all the blunders and blurs our brain apparently experiences these days. It’s funny, & you know me, I’m always here for a laugh, but FAR OUT, packing nappies for a trip to my local cafe & forgetting to bring my wallet CANGETFRUSTRAT...ING I’m here to tell you, that even if we’re getting all technical about it, MUM BRAIN IS A REAL THING. Your amount of brain cells actually decrease during pregnancy, &, though they boost back up again after birth, it can take around 2 years for things to go back to pre-baby brain! Sleepless nights & the changes surrounding new motherhood are of course excellent additions to Mum Brain, so you gotta give your mind a minute to get used to all the extra thoughts and processes that go into being a mum! So, next time you’re squinting outdoors before realising that your sunnies are on your head or you cry while watching a Macca’s commercial, you know your body and brain are biologically amped up to support you in being the amazing mum your bub needs and deserves to grow into a healthy, loving human. So cherish that! Mum brain for the win!

19.01.2022 Remember when we were pregnant & spent our time googling, asking questions & reading all of the books with all of the secret tips on how it was going to be when we finally became a mum? All 155 baby books we read (yes, no need to be ashamed, we all did it!) were great for preparing us to have a baby *on paper*. But no novel, documentary or tell-all could prepare us better for having a child, than, well, having the child! Sure, there are a few by-the-book experiences that ...seem to align with our 9-month research, but they never seemed to deep dive into the everyday stuff. Like, MORE than just when to expect our baby to laugh or roll over for the first time, you know? Well, well have no fear! That's exactly why we’re here! Below are some of What The Mama’s favourite nitty, gritty & not-so pretty aspects of motherhood. The things that the fancy doctors and immaculate SuperNannies somehow forgot to mention The extreme comfortableness with bodily fluids. Spew? Cool. Poop? Awesome. Drool/snot/pee? That’s just a regular Tuesday! It doesn’t matter which end it comes out of, we learn very quickly that BABY WIPES SAVE LIVES. The. Constant. Laundry. Thought your cute & perfectly organised wardrobe pre-baby made you a good cleaner? Lol. You ain’t seen nothin’ until baby ensures you become besties with the washing machine. Pop baby clothes in, next is Dad’s work stuff, then you throw yours in (after you realise you only have one clean sock left), followed by the towels & hopefully squeeze in a wash of burp cloths & baby blankets at the end. Oh, yeah, then do that all over again tomorrow. Forgetting what using an alarm clock to wake up is like. No, but seriously though what are they again? The benefit of MumFriends. Nothing helps you get through being a new mum than other new mums. There’s such comfort in having someone to figure it all out with or even just someone to call & overtired-cry with, while enjoying a tub of Ben & Jerry’s & watching late-night TV Tell us, what are some of the things you wish you knew about becoming a mum?

18.01.2022 Happppyyyy Hump Day What The Mama fam! We’re hitting the mid-week slump with a couple of our favourite crazy, random, funny & some kinda traumatising () fun facts! Mums take an average of 2 minutes & 5 seconds to change a nappy FYI, that adds up to 3 40-hour work weeks each year! ... Between 1725 & 1765, Mrs. Vassilyev, a woman from Russia, gave birth to 69 children. No, seriously, we’d love to know HOW IN THE HECK she did it! The world certainly isn’t 50/50. There is an average of 105 baby boys born for every 100 baby girls! Currently, 72% of mums with children over 1 year old work. Which is about the same as childless women! Ever heard of Superheroes? Yeah, they’re MAMAS! Pffft, as if you needed another reason to think us Mamas are amazing!

It has been a wild ride to get here, especially for new mums! Trials, tribulations & questioning whether we were *actually* going to make it out, well, we did it! It has been a year, that’s for sure, with some incredible highs & plenty (plenty, plenty, plenty!!!) of lows. It pretty much doesn’t get worse, right?! ... There is a silver lining, though... WE. MADE. IT. & I’m telling you mamas, if we can make it through 2020, we can make it through ANYTHING. So, GOODBYE to you, 2020, as we welcome 2021 with open arms. This year will undoubtedly see us through incredible memories, amazing moments & a plethora of successes. For us? 16.01.2022 Time Definition: The indefinite continued progress of existence & events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole. Umm OK, SORRY, WHAT? We didn’t know the definition of time is just as complicated as it is to find more time!! ... Where did the time go?! we ask, as an almost hourly routine. I lost it somewhere between breast feeding & cleaning some puke right before I forgot to get out of my pyjamas & just after changing a nappy (or 3...). Now, we’re not asking for much. We’re not saying we need to find an extra day or two, or a couple of weeks for a vacation (although we’re definitely not saying no!). We’re just talking about a couple of minutes to drink the coffee we’ve left somewhere around the house that has definitely gone ice cold by now. People can listen to all the motivation talks about having the same amount of hours in the day as Beyonce. .... But you know what? Beyonce also has A WHOLE LOTTA HELP. So, What The Mama is here for a little harsh truth that all the positivity Gurus probably won’t like We’re here to tell you that YOU DON’T have enough time to finish that stone cold coffee (wherever it is). YOU DON’T have any spare seconds in between the Boobs & the Pukes & the Poos. & that YOU DEFINITELY DON’T have as much time in the day, the same help (or most probably the same voice of angel) as Beyonce BUTYOUCAN Besides the harsh truths we’re here to tell, we’re also here as an in-home service provider for new mums. We’ve got everything from cleaners, to hairdressers, personal trainers, Naturopaths & Nannies here on speed dial. Whatever the service, delivered straight to your door. So you can enjoy that cup of coffee HOT. *Sighhhh* the luxury!
