23.01.2022 MEDIA RELEASE TATIARA DISTRICT COUNCIL OFFICES, LIBRARY, GALLERY, VISITOR INFORMATION CENTRE AFFECTED BY NEW COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS Council’s offices, librar...y, gallery, visitor information centre and outlets and transfer stations have been closed or put on hold as a precaution following the latest Covid-19 outbreak. In response to the latest restrictions imposed by the SA Government from midnight 18th November 2020, and in order to protect the public health and safety of Tatiara District residents, several service changes have been made. In implementing these changes, our priority is to ensure the safety of all in our community, especially our most vulnerable residents. Therefore, Council has decided to close most of its facilities for at least six days following SA Government restrictions and advice. And Council is acting quickly and cautiously to minimise the risk to our community of the possible spread of Covid-19. The following changes will apply from 5.00 pm, 18th November (unless stated otherwise) until at least 9.00 am, Wednesday, 25th November 2020: All Council offices are closed. For inquiries or urgent matters please phone Customer Service on 8752 1044 or email us at [email protected] All library services are closed. The Walkway Gallery is closed. All transfer station services are closed. The Bordertown and Keith public pools are closed. All Council volunteer programs and activities are on hold. At this point in time we expect these measures to be in place for at least six days. We will be continually reviewing our operations and our services over the coming days and will reassess these decisions as further information and advice from the SA Government and SA Health comes to hand. We are asking everyone to help keep our community safe by following the restrictions currently in place. If you need to contact Council or make payments, we have phone and online contact options available. Council will continue to review these measures in line with the latest SA Government advice and information and will keep the community updated about any changes via its website, Facebook page and through local media. 23.01.2022 This year we are having 'The Heart Tree' where people are able to purchase gifts which are age specific for children in our community who may not otherwise get ...a Christmas gift this year. These gifts will go to LOCAL children first, and then if we have extra gifts we will arrange for them to go to the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal. We will have The Heart Tree set up at the street party for gift collection, and it will then go into the Bendigo Bank for late arrivals. If gifts can please be labelled as male/ female with an age specific labelled. If you have any more questions about this please contact us directly.

22.01.2022 We are now living with a dual permit system on the SA/Victorian border. We will need both permits to cross back and forth. This post is to put the links for bot...h permits in the one spot and to try to keep the information on our page tidy! VICTORIA From 5:59pm on 11 January, you will need to apply for a permit to enter Victoria from anywhere in Australia. The cross border exception is only for NSW/Vic border residents and DOES NOT include SA/Vic border residents. Therefore if you are travelling from SA to Victoria you will need a Victorian permit under the new traffic light permit scheme. This permit is valid for 14 days with multiple uses permitted. Information on the permit scheme https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/victorian-travel-permit- To apply for a Victorian permit https://www.service.vic.gov.au/services/border-permit/home For more information you can call the 24/7 coronavirus hotline 1800 675 398 SOUTH AUSTRALIA All travellers coming to South Australia are required to complete a Cross Border Travel Registration. Each individual must complete a separate cross-border travel registration form. You do not need to apply if you have a current ET number from SAPOL. 17.01.2022 Twas the night before Christmas; there wasn't a sound. Not a possum was stirring; no-one was around. We'd left on the table some tucker and beer, Hoping that Sa...nta Claus soon would be here; We children were snuggled up safe in our beds, While dreams of pavlova danced 'round in our heads; And Mum in her nightie, and Dad in his shorts, Had just settled down to watch TV sports. When outside the house a mad ruckus arose; Loud squeaking and banging woke us from our doze. We ran to the screen door, peeked cautiously out, Snuck onto the deck, then let out a shout. Guess what had woken us up from our snooze, But a rusty old Ute pulled by eight mighty 'roos. The cheerful man driving was giggling with glee, And we both knew at once who this plump bloke must be. Now, I'm telling the truth it's all dinki-di, Those eight kangaroos fairly soared through the sky. Santa leaned out the window to pull at the reins, And encouraged the 'roos, by calling their names. 'Now, Kylie! Now, Kirsty! Now, Shazza and Shane! On Kipper! On, Skipper! On, Bazza and Wayne! Park up on that water tank. Grab a quick drink, I'll scoot down the gum tree. Be back in a wink!' So up to the tank those eight kangaroos flew, With the Ute full of toys, and Santa Claus too. He slid down the gum tree and jumped to the ground, Then in through the window he sprang with a bound. He had bright sunburned cheeks and a milky white beard. A jolly old joker was how he appeared. He wore red stubby shorts and old thongs on his feet, And a hat of deep crimson as shade from the heat. His eyes - bright as opals - Oh! How they twinkled! And, like a goanna, his skin was quite wrinkled! His shirt was stretched over a round bulging belly Which shook when he moved, like a plate full of jelly. A fat stack of prezzies he flung from his back, And he looked like a swaggie unfastening his pack. He spoke not a word, but bent down on one knee, To position our goodies beneath the yule tree. Surfboard and footy-ball shapes for us two. And for Dad, tongs to use on the new barbeque. A mysterious package he left for our Mum, Then he turned and he winked and he held up his thumb; He strolled out on deck and his 'roos came on cue; Flung his sack in the back and prepared to shoot through. He bellowed out loud as they swooped past the gates- MERRY CHRISTMAS to all, and goodonya, MATES!' See more
