24.01.2022 What's on.... Jacinta Price, Mind the Gap Tour - Bridging the Indigenous Divide 28th August @ Mildura Visitor Information and Booking Centre... Jacinta Nampijinpa Price has come under fire for arguing that some segments of the Aboriginal community spend too much energy on being perpetually aggrieved, and not enough on attending to the real issues that the community faces. In the wake of a growing ‘Change the Date’ movement, Jacinta dives deep to uncover what is causing further division; what is distracting us from bridging the indigenous divide and what a connected future would look like. 15.01.2022 What’s on. Water Security. It’s a topic more relevant now than ever with water supply for growing Regional populations under pressure.... Here is a plan devised by Allan Murphy (Ag-Murf Engineering) in conjunction with ILF Consulting (world leader in pipe line design) to provide drinkable water, available in abundant supply in Lake Argyle (northeast West Australia), and pump it to Western NSW, Northern Victoria and South Australia. All that is required are pipe lines and solar powered pump stations. The concept outlined below, Ord2MD (Ord to Murray Darling) sees water from Lake Argyle piped to be stored and distributed to the drought ravaged areas of the Murray Darling Basin utilising existing storage facilities such as Burrendong and Keepit Dams, along with using existing pipeline infrastructure to distribute water to various regions. Lake Argyle is massive. At standard storage levels Lake Argyle holds the equivalent of 21 Sydney Harbours. At full flood containment level Lake Argyle holds 70 Sydney Harbours. Lake Argyle currently feeds the Ord Irrigation Scheme. Even when fully developed, the Ord Irrigation Scheme will only use approximately 0.5% of Lake Argyle’s stored water. The remaining 99.5% is available for use elsewhere.
