12.01.2022 Our Bible reading this week from Matthew 14:22-33 is the story of Jesus walking on water. He urges one of the disciples, Peter, to step out of the boat and also walk on the water to Him. Peter steps out in faith and with Jesus with him he indeed can walk on water. For a moment though he doubts and forgets that Jesus is right there with him and begins to sink. He calls out to Jesus to save him who reaches out His arm to catch him. At times Jesus calls us out of our boat to do... the seemingly impossible. How often though we are gripped by fear and doubt and don't step out of the boat, or begin to sink when we do. Jesus tells us not to doubt, but to have faith and believe. Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times." Matthew 18:21-22 God is willing to keep on forgiving us when we do the wrong thing. 06.01.2022 In our gospel reading this week from Matthew 16:21-28, Jesus says to His disciples "Whoever wants to be my follower must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?...." Following Jesus won't always be easy. In fact, Jesus here instructs us to deny ourselves, our ambitions, our desires... and commit ourselves totally to Him, even when things are hard. But in doing so He promises we will find a life far more fulfilling than we could ever imagine. Are you willing to take up your cross and follow Him, and step into the life God has planned for you? 04.01.2022 This week our reading from Matthew 14:13-21 was "Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand". This of course was one of Jesus miracles, turning 5 loaves and 2 fish into a feast for thousands, with plenty left over. He still does amazing things today, multiplying small things into great things. Whether it is your offerings of money, time, gifts etc, He can turn something quite unremarkable into something truly remarkable. What can you offer up for God to use and multiply for His glory?
