24.01.2022 A bit weird but also very awesome to see these on the bike path today...yes, #thisgirlcan and did today. Longest ride in a while and that felt awesome. This Girl Can VIC

24.01.2022 It sure was a grey morning, but it was like the calm before the storm...gorgeous looking across the water today and the sky was magical. Who else managed a spin today? This is a little of what I have in store for next week's ride...though I can't promise the mysterious grey skies!

24.01.2022 It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas...especially after Dayna singing paruppa pum pum behind me all ride, and NaiaNa doing the epic bike lift under the decoration, or Helga timing the perfect selfies in front of the Christmas tree. It was such a funny ride...all going well until we had a flat tyre, a missing ride leader on account of flat tyre, a closed cafe and then poor Vicki wondering if it's always this mad at WW! Merry Christmas everyone....

23.01.2022 If you’re like me and like a little pink in your life, try this...

23.01.2022 NEW KIT DAY...OPAL PIN OAK Oooh how exciting, one of our new series of kit arrived today, the Opal Pin Oak jersey! It looks so gorgeous and the hot colours fading from orange to magenta! I love the matchy matchy with the Opal bibs and the colours totally POP...I'm not much for floral-y kinds of things EVER, but these little leaves made me very happy today.... Available in the WW shop on the website!

23.01.2022 Well done ladies! Ride leader Jimi was most impressed that we finished our ride with five minutes to spare. It was definitely another fabulous morning and we were most fortunate to be riding in the cooler part of the day. Maybe that’s why there were so many other cyclists out there today?

23.01.2022 ELIMINATION DAY...now that's a day for quadruple donuts so off we went in 34C to our fave new donut store!! Sickly sweet, brightest of colours and all shapes and sizes. A bit like Wheel Women maybe? Such a fun morning and BRILLIANT to see new rider Katie who had been following us for a while take the plunge and join in for a ride. I think she'll agree we aren't scary...just silly!

22.01.2022 Perhaps Virginia Trioli would like to come and do some skills sessions to see that "the more skilled and professional we are as riders the more downright crappy we can be to our fellow cyclists" is NOT the case at WW and our aim is make safe and confident cyclists. As I have been saying for years...cycling education is key to improvement and just wish we could take it to the masses! https://www.abc.net.au//2020-11-28/virginia-trioli/12923932

22.01.2022 The Warby Trail is always a fun ride and today was no different albeit a slightly shorter version on account of many still building their fitness after lockdown...two groups with different paces, sunny but not too hot, windy but not too blowy and plenty of laughs kept us all going until we made the coffee stop at our turn around point in Warburton. I can't tell you how much fun we had today...some new riders on their first Warby ride, some riders I hadn't had the chance to meet before, and some so old they were on the very first WW Warby ride way back when! What an excellent day...next time we'll do the whole trail.

21.01.2022 There must be some kind of electricity in the air at the moment because the buzz sure is all about the Specialized ebikes...there have been a few WW riders wanting to test them over the last week, and several phone calls from riders wanting to know more about the Turbo Vado SL versus the Turbo Creo SL Comp E5. Which ever way you go, you will be guaranteed the ebike smile just like Erin had (so funny!)...and the laughter when you realise how much fun they are! I know I every day I am just BUSTING to get on my Creo. During lockdown I rode mine every day...I go further, I ride more, I am fitter for it, and when I get on my conventional bike I can't believe how my fitness has improved from riding more often and pushing a heavier bike. They are NOT a cheats bike...let's just get over that one! Specialized Bicycles Total Rush Beasley Cycles

21.01.2022 Note the absence of not many 'on bike' shots...probably not the most aero of designs. Nice colours though, and pretty pictures. https://www.designboom.com//cleverhood-rover-rain-cape-p/

20.01.2022 Wow, we filmed this 4 years ago...not sure where the others are now but of course many of you know Verita at Total Rush...and I can see Matilda in the video too who is one of the 'go to people' at Specialized Bicycles and races with Specialized Women's Racing. It's October, it's always 'women's ride month' at Wheel Women, and now more than ever we need to hold each others hands (from a distance) and keep riding, keep laughing, keep smiling! https://www.facebook.com/SpecializedAU/videos/1441161499246298/UzpfSTYyNjA1NjU1MjoxMDE1NDA2MDAxMDAwNjU1Mw/?source=bookmark

19.01.2022 Our new Amethyst kit was perfect for today...matchy matchy with the helmet and shoes and a pretty old but still very gorgeous Specialized Bicycles Deflect convertible jacket with sleeves off. My mask is one from my fave Japanese designer Hiroko Takahashi, and it matches the traditional pattern we have used on our sleeve called seigaiha. The pattern often means good luck, but it also is used for resilience...just what we need right now.

18.01.2022 Have a listen to Reka, Lady Cyclist in Japan on Inbound Ambassador live now at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKKoGk9yZoo Talking about riding in Japan...awesome!

18.01.2022 What a brilliant day for riding...while Natasha headed to the beach, some headed for the hills. Looks like the beach rolls were the perfect antidote to some holiday over eating...but hey, there's always time for coffee and cake and a good chat at Wheel Women. Thanks Natasha...looks like an awesome day.

18.01.2022 Is it just me, or is anyone else counting the #doubledonutdays at the moment...so heart warming that we are now at 12 days of no COVID cases and no deaths here in Melbourne. It's been a long haul to say the least, but I think we've shown now it can be done! So, just a reminder, you still need to carry your mask with you on rides at the moment...no mask no ride! I dunno about you, but I can feel a Donut Ride coming on...stay tuned!!

16.01.2022 Today Ride Leader Alicia shared with us a terrific road ride she put together while we were all restricted to venturing no further than 5 kms from home due to Covid. Joined by new rider Jo, we enjoyed plenty of variety, steadily climbing hills and admiring the city skyline in the distance before gleefully zooming down the other side. Coffee and a light snack was from one of our favourite bakeries in Strathmore and a new ice cream parlour has opened next door. We all know that Wheel Women looove good ice cream, so we definitely need to ride back this way again soon.

16.01.2022 This afternoon I was a guest speaker with the Darebin City Council and the One Woman Project for the Women In Sport panel discussion. We covered some really diverse experiences about gender equality in sport and of course what messages the media portray and perpetuate of women in sport...great panel, great discussion!

15.01.2022 Fantastic to receive so many enquiries from new riders wanting to skill up and find other buddies to ride with...door is always open at Wheel Women, so come and ride! https://www.theguardian.com//women-behind-huge-increase-in

13.01.2022 Okay...I told you I was gonna eat donuts if we got to #doubledonuts for 14 days...yay Melbourne. We did it! So today i dragged coach Alicia along for a donut excursion...perfect #matchymatchy of course!!

12.01.2022 Spring sure did spring today...how beautiful to just ride and roll around for 2hrs, stopping to take photos, enjoying the warm breeze and watching so much picnic fun! I think the Opal kit was perfect today...I stopped to see the wisteria, but happened upon the pink pig face instead!

12.01.2022 Feeling like I am bouncing around in a 5km bubble. If it were a balloon and I were trapped inside, I'd be ready to burst it any time now. But putting on my happy pink sushi socks always makes the ride feel better. Hanging in there and I hope you all are too...we can do this gang! 11.01.2022 So it seems that women’s cycling is nothing new in the Flemington/Kensington area...looks like history repeating, though these days we don’t go much for competition at Wheel Women. How exciting to see these pictures and learn the history. I can sense a new window display coming up at WWHQ! Thanks Flemington Heritage!!

09.01.2022 Wow, what a hot day for a ride at the Youies...a great ride today with the MTB legends lead by Dani and joined by Sharon and Willie. They tackled the harder Stockyard trails at the You Yangs in the heat which was a keen effort. It was a hilly, sandy and technical ride, but everyone challenged themselves and rode with confidence- there was even no stopping Willie when she got up close and personal with a rock. A quick coffee and cannoli stop at the Little River general store was the best way to celebrate a great ride and a special day for all Victorians.

09.01.2022 'Help...I want to buy a new bike but I have no idea where to start!' That's gotta be the most common question we've received over the last months, so in our video we set out to try and explain the basic differences between a bunch of bikes. It's not everything you need to know, but it's a start! hope it helps...give it a watch on our YouTube channel and thumbs up on the channel if you like it.... 08.01.2022 THE BOULIE IS BACK... And first up was Jimi taking her regular Wednesday early starters ride with some laps of the Boulie. Great to see everyone backl on their bikes and thanks Jimi for getting those wheels rolling again! If you'd like to join in, Wednesday mornings at 7am and contact us on how to join the ride.

06.01.2022 What a day for the first ride back for the Geelong gang...how exciting!! A small group to kick things off and as always it lions kind it was awesome fun!! You go gang...rocking it for WW when we can’t!

06.01.2022 Fantastic news...I just could not be happier that this is finally happening!! Love you heaps Mary and I know how much this means to you!! Amy Gillett Foundation

05.01.2022 We've got a ride happening on Friday...sorry, a bit last minute but it's looking like a nice day for a roll to Williamstown. Would love to see some of those new riders who contacted us over lockdown join in the fun. Make sure to bring some coffee/ice cream money!

04.01.2022 Dani has been making sure everyone gets their fix of MTB riding...awesome to see everyone taking the challenges and improving. Last week Chelsea joined thew gang and did and awesome job, while this week the Wheel Women MTB (felt like BMX) bandits had a fun ride at The Hill MTB Park in Newtown, Geelong today. They got in some practise riding over ramps, rock gardens, navigating tight corners and mostly hooning around like little kids again. With different level trails, jumps,... pump and skill sections, it's the perfect place to go to work on technique (and laughing a lot). Awesome work Dani and thanks to Natasha and Sharon for being part of the fun. See more

03.01.2022 Wow, scrolling back through photos and came across this...2 years ago today! It's been a while since we could even think about running our WW100km ride. I'm missing the long rides and I know you are too...so hang in there. We can do this...I wanna give some more badges out!

03.01.2022 It's not happening right now, but scroll down this article... "Victoria will also introduce mandatory minimum passing distances next year improving cyclist safety and ensuring passing distance rules clear and consistent across state lines for all road users." Thank you to everyone who lobbied for this, especially Amy Gillett Foundation!!... https://www.premier.vic.gov.au/safer-cycling-and-more-route

03.01.2022 Things are looking good for today's DONUT Ride...yep, 28 days of zero, zero, zero, zero. That means we ride for donuts at 9.15am...who's coming? Hmmm...what flavour will I get?

03.01.2022 Today called for a little bit of mauve and purple...tiny Pin Oak leaves seemed just right for a quick spin to the beach today. This one is the Emerald Pin Oak jersey available in the Wheel Women online shop.

03.01.2022 Today's ride was a big gravel (and mud) loop of the Anglesea cliff tops and heathland. After heavy rains overnight and for the start of the ride, we were challenged by deep mud and ruts, but the smiles never left the faces of the adventure crew! Sharon's 'I never want to go near these steps again' section to get us to the top provided incredible views and Natasha's mechanic skills came in handy. Deb pushed on through her surfing injury and made sliding a gravel bike through ...mud look easy. A well earned break at the end to enjoy an early Christmas tart (or 3 packets) and another fun ride for the WW adventurers. Thanks heaps Dani you star for organising such a great ride!!

01.01.2022 I found heaven today, I never knew it was in my 5km...is that where the expression 'close to heaven' comes from? Aaaah, the things you see on a bicycle!
