24.01.2022 Autumn is a good time to get into the garden. Your soil will still contain a fair bit of warmth from summer before the winter rain hits, so it’s a great time to get planting.

21.01.2022 Here are 10 simple steps to help native plants thrive in your garden: Choose or prepare your planting site so it is free of weeds, well drained and does not have high levels of phosphorous. 20.01.2022 Shrub The best way to create a neat, dense, compact shrub is to trim it early in its life. This may mean sacrificing the first year's flowers, but the reward will be a nicely shaped shrub covered in flowers the year after. Continue to prune annually after flowering. If you have mature Australian shrubs that have become straggly after some neglect, reshaping may be possible if the stems you want to prune still have foliage. But if the shrub has become too woody, so that the place where you want to prune each stem is devoid of leaves, it is unlikely to produce new shoots at those points.

12.01.2022 Heathy plants look great and perform well. To keep your plants at their best, fertilise, water and watch out for any nasty garden pests. Prevention is always better than cure, so take a regular walk around the garden to look for possible problems and remedy them before they get out of hand. Left unchecked pests can take over your garden, damaging plants, flowers, fruits and vegetables. Their effects can be unsightly, if not devastating, because they cause leaves to discolour, flowers to drop prematurely and plants to lose vigour and eventually die.

10.01.2022 Autumn in your garden: Mulch is your garden’s best friend. It helps the soil hold in moisture so you don’t have to water it as often and it also keeps down weeds. Over time, mulch will break down into your soil and improve it by adding nutrients.

08.01.2022 Autumn in your garden: Fertilising your lawn will ensure that it stays green and healthy throughout the year. Autumn is a great time to fertilise because it protects your lawn through the winter months. You should aim to fertilise twice a year for the best results.
