24.01.2022 Have you ever seen an equine melanoma? We recently visited Loue, a 2 year old Warmblood to examine a lump on her cheek. Once removed & the lump was able to be... explored, it revealed a melanoma. Equine melanomas are usually benign but are best removed when their location is likely to cause interference - in Loue’s case, where her throat latch on her bridle would be sitting.It is optimal to get any lump you notice checked ASAP as delaying surgical intervention can lead to lumps becoming larger, therefore making the procedure more difficult due to an increase in tension when trying to bring the wound edges together.
