17.01.2022 Yesterday was a big day, in 30 degree heat we got almost 300 native trees in the ground with the help of some amazing volunteers from Whitsunday Catchment Landcare Inc. This is the first phase of our site revegetation project!

17.01.2022 Volunteer Event 23.07.2020 at Whitsunday Paradise, Bowen - CANCELLED Due to inclement weather. The weather looks a bit inclement for tomorrow - thunderstorms & rain predicted and it is a long way to go to get rained on. So we are cancelling the volunteer event at Whitsunday Paradise tomorrow. The Community Nursery will still be open though so you will be welcome to attend.... Please share this with anybody we may have missed. We will reschedule the event as it fits nicely with a new project we have at the Beach Scrubs at Kings & Queens Beaches in Bowen. It will be interesting to compare the sites mature established semi-evergreen vine thicket at Kings & Queens with the planted area at Whitsunday Paradise.

08.01.2022 Whitsunday Catchment Landcare- Covoid 19 impacts Whitsunday Catchment Landcare is taking steps to maintain business continuity while minimising risks posed by COVID-19 to staff, clients, volunteers, contractors and the general public. We regret having to take these actions, however, safety is our number one priority. In keeping with the latest government advice, we are cancelling or postponing all events, face-to-face meetings, volunteer activities at the community nursery, e...ffective immediately until further notice. This will be reviewed weekly and adapted as circumstances dictate. Our Community Nursery will be closed to the public & WCL volunteers until further notice. Please contact us by phone or email should you want to discuss sourcing/obtaining plants and we will do our best to make appropriate arrangements for collection & invoicing- please call the WCL Coordinator on 0408 187 944. Our Office will not be open to the public. Please contact us by phone or email should you wish to discuss any matters- If you want to contact WCL please call the Coordinator on 0408 187 944. Our office in Proserpine will remain open for WCL staff ONLY, who wish to continue working there. However, our office staff will attend on different days to minimise contact with one another in such a confined office space. Our Landcare Officer & Nursery Manager’s type of outdoor work enables them to adapt their activities to limit public contact. We will all be continuing to attend to our day to day commitments; minimise contact with one another & the general public & will be taking all the Government recommended social distancing & personal /work environment hygiene recommendations. Our staff will be adapting their work activities to suit the local person to person virus transmission conditions & when required, will be able to work from home or in isolation at the community nursery. These local conditions may require a rapid response & changes to the working conditions outlined here. We are confident the prudent measures we are implementing, will enable us to continue delivering for our communities, while doing our bit to help ensure their & the general public’s safety. We thank you for your understanding during this challenging time. Stay safe, be kind and look after each other.
