25.01.2022 Over the course of this term, students in Year 11 Specialist Maths have been learning about ‘Rates of Change’ and ‘Differential Equations’. Whilst it has been a steep learning curve, with many questions requiring over a page of working out (who said working out’s not important?!), these students are doing an exceptional job!

24.01.2022 During Week 8 we had Step-up Day throughout the school, and we welcomed our 2021 Preppies into the Prep classrooms. They had a wonderful time listening to Miss Elmarie read ‘The Blue Balloon’ and then did activities such as blue straw necklace threading, making squishy blue balloon happy sacks and having fun completing colouring, Duplo, Mobilo, puzzles and playing in the home corner. Our new Preppies enjoyed playing outside on our play structure and had their morning tea at the big Prep tables, before heading home with their bag of goodies and their own blue balloon.

23.01.2022 Year 1 have been lucky enough to have the local firefighters visit to teach them about fire safety!

22.01.2022 For the third year, P&F are holding a present drive to bring some Christmas cheer to the women and children staying at the local Women's Shelter over the festive season. We have included an additional category of gifts to help the Shelter provide their "welcome pack" to new arrivals. Backpack tags will include a list of items such as an age appropriate reading book, soft toy, pillow case, toothbrush and paste, hairbrush, face washer etc in a carry bag/backpack. How can you he...lp? - Take a tag from the Christmas Tree in Administration - Buy a gift appropriate for the Mum or child on the tag - Wrap the gift and place it, with the tag attached, under the tree by December 1 and we will distribute them to the Shelter Management (backpack gifts can be left unwrapped under the tree with the tag attached) See more

21.01.2022 Whitsunday Christian College versus St Catherine’s Interschool Sport was a different kind of success! The Year 10 Volleyball Team put up a good fight for all three sets, to only just be defeated in the end, but all players came out stronger, better and more enthusiastic to play volleyball than ever before. The Year 7 Basketball Team had a friendly match that also went down to the wire and were unfortunately defeated, but no ‘man’ was left down and out. Instead, the players were more excited to play against St Catherine’s again, with a full team next time. We think this is a win in our books!

21.01.2022 Year 1 had the local firefighters visit!

18.01.2022 Last Wednesday, our Primary students had a visit from Surf Life Saving Queensland. They taught us the meaning of all the different coloured flags at the beach and when they would be used, explained what to do if we get stuck in a rip, how they rescue people and what to do if you are unlucky enough to get stung by the different types of jellyfish. It was a very informative and interactive afternoon. Thank you Surf Life Saving Queensland!

16.01.2022 Year 8s recently had a hands-on lesson applying their microscope skills to observe and identify different parts of a plant cell. The Yr 8s had an extra challenge as they also had to make the slide, using onions as their specimen, before they could begin the viewing. All the students produced high quality slides, which is far more difficult that it may sound.

06.01.2022 Secondary students have been involved in sailing for Sport with Mr Van der Westhuizen in Term 4. This video was made by our student Ashley Pedulla. The wind was over 20 knots. The students reefed their sails back, but even, then most students had to use their capsize skills to get back in their boats. A lot of fun and teamwork gave them a great day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjBZuTll8eI&feature=youtu.be
