16.01.2022 On Saturday the Raiders got together for their annual 12 Pubs of Christmas. It’s a special time and huge occasion for the group to spend quality time before majority part to enjoy Christmas and the festive season with loved ones. For some, it was their first time and some an annual event since the beginning. The day n night was full of laughter, bantering, dancing (yeah), drinks flowed and the outfits were awesome. ... Massive shout out to the crew whom donated towards supporting player Adam Warnock amazing 24hr Deadlift Challenge. With raising $355 for Beyond Blue and present him with the donation. To all the past, present and future Raiders Family. Enjoy time with the family. Plenty of laughter with loved ones and relax as much as possible before regrouping for the Raiders 40th Anniversary in 2021. Take care with plenty of hand sanitiser Much love to you All Raiders Coach André Houston #pwruc40thanniversary2021 #airliebeach #whitsunday #beyondblue #RedRugby #menshealthmatters #proserpine #MRU

12.01.2022 Hi Raiders Family, Part II of this weeks player interviews we have Hone Casey-Bloomer. Hone is enthusiastic player with size and speed. It makes him a player to watch with ball in hand and when contesting in the air. There’s not a time he won’t put his body on the line to get a result for his team. ... Hone was only 18 years old when he ran in to score the winning try after 100 minutes of our 2019 GF win. Since then, he has been playing a vital roll in the Raiders backline and continues to develop. With the arrival of his son Ryder in 2020. Hone has found himself putting in the hard yards in the off season to present his Son. Keep pushing in 2021 Hone.

11.01.2022 What an out of it 2020 season!! A year of challenges, tough times, achievements and continual growth of the Club. Congratulations to William Pratt on his 400th, William Crossley for his 100th & Cam Meurant on your 50th caps for the Proserpine Whitsunday RU Raiders. A very special moment for these gentlemen. Being present to experience these milestones was an honour for me and for all. Our 2020 squad had talented players delivering entertaining rugby with great flow of ball mo...vement, strong defence and amazing tries. Great energy within the Club has continued. Time on and off the field was enjoyable, the smiles on the players faces tells many stories. Although we didn’t get that ‘Back to Back’, which was very hard to swallow. The up side of the circumstances is the squad will be hungry and keen to make things right in 2021 and beyond. Exciting times lay ahead for the Raiders. My sincere Thank You to all volunteers off field and in the bars & canteens, supporters, wives, partners and families, medics, strappers, first aiders, assistant trainers, water men, bus drivers, grounds keepers, photographers, planning group and the committee. All of you in your element play a huge part to allow the club to keep ticking over and allow the players to focus on field. To my manager (my wife Karla). COVID-19 challenged us big time in our Rugby world. Your guidance, endless work, support & education was amazing. None of this would have taken place without your constant push and effort. Thank you MyLo, I love you. Finally to our Raiders Players. A huge THANK YOU!!, thank you to all of you that strapped on your boots, trained week in week out to take the field and put your bodies on the line for your beloved Raiders Brothers. Words cannot express how thankful I am to you all. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your own journey, not only in Rugby, but in your lives as a whole. Enjoy the break gentlemen, enjoy the break everyone and I shall see you all next season. This is me signing off for the Raiders 2020 season. PWRUC Raiders Coach André Houston

07.01.2022 Words to play by
07.01.2022 For future reference - 1 Loose head Prop: Moderately tall fat lad, often aggressive when something obstructs way to bar, pie shop and occasionally a ruck. Does ...weights- no one knows why 2 Hooker: short fat lad with endless capacity for cheap booze and fascinated by women miles out of his league. Believes he has rugby nous and is an athlete 3 Tight head Prop: fat lad who believes he’s technically a good player with good hands. Everyone else thinks he just gets in the way. Does weights, no one notices 4 Lock: big hard lad who thinks he’s the enforcer. Police describe him as hooligan. Wears shorts and flip flops all year round, lives with his mum 5 Lock: Giraffe, looks funny when he runs. Long arms useful in bar, takes up too much space. Often very fit and yet last to arrive at breakdown 6 Blindside flanker: proper hard man, can disappear for 80 minutes but emerge holding someone’s scrotum. Never buys a round 7 Openside flanker: glory boy often with psychotic tendencies. Will spend a lot of time in A&E but when present can carry a team. Often unpopular or young. Or both 8 Number 8: big bastard; talks a good game and describes himself as a footballer. Often vain, sometimes scruffy, generally can’t hold their drink and have weird hobbies or jobs. Handy in a scuffle but best avoided socially. 9 scrum half. Gobby midget who can get himself into trouble marginally faster than he can run away from it. Nothing is his fault. Good drinker 10 fly half: there are two sorts, running or kicking. Generally they don’t know which one they are until it’s too late. Unusually nice hair and over confident in every situation until it’s too late. 11 left wing: lanky speed merchant. Can’t catch. Live in a world of their own and always forget one item of kit, often boots 12 inside centre: often the best player on the pitch as well as the fittest. Limited social skills and terrified of women until the beer kicks in 13 outside centre: does everything the 12 doesn’t. Socially active and often juggling multiple women. Has nice car, good job and demanding fitness regime as well as extensive debts and improbably large porn collection 14 right wing: the only reason he doesn’t score 10 tries in every game is because no one can pass. Often a big lad who really looks the part and yet never quite has the impact you hope for. Doesn’t drink 15 full back: 90% of them should be shot at dawn for cowardice. Last line of defence my arse. Secretly want to play at 10 and buys the skipper lots of pints. Too many hair products but useful source of spare socks and toiletries at away games.
