07.01.2022 Respect isa beauty industry that is diverse and recognising beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and colours. Stereotyped ideas about what girls and boys, women and men should look like are reinforced everywhere, particularly by the beauty industry. The dominance of white bodies in the beauty industry highlights that what is understood as beautiful is informed by racist assumptions. The industry is selling the idea that girl’s and women’s value lies in their youth, beauty, whi...teness and sexuality and not in their skills or capacity as leaders. We must value people as whole human beings and challenge gendered and racist stereotypes. Check out Women’s Health Victoria’s resource on reporting sexist advertising and be bold in calling out sexist of racist representations. https://whv.org.au//reporting-sexist-advertising-toolkit-c And come along to the Youth Short Film Festival on Friday 4th December. #BuildingaRespectfulCommunity #RespectIs #CallitOut #16DaysCampaign See more

It’s not OK to pressure, trick or force someone into an intimate act, or into taking or sharing intimate photos. One in two Australian women has experienced sexual harassment. To mark 16 Days of Activism, DPV Health is raising awareness of gender inequities such as this one. Sexual harassment can mean unwelcomed sexual comments text messages, or exposing someone to sexual content that the...y do not wish to see. Sexual assault can mean touching someone sexually when they do not want that, it also includes distributing intimate images of a person without their consent image-based abuse. Sexual harassment and assault are illegal, whether it happens in person, online, or via messaging platforms. Enthusiastic consent is essential for any sexual act in person or online. Consent must be freely given an enthusiastic yes for every act, every time. It is everyone's responsibility to check in and make sure everyone is feeling comfortable. If someone looks nervous or sounds uneasy, just stop. #BuildingaRespectfulCommunity #RespectIs #CallitOut #16dayscampaign See more
