25.01.2022 Are you a planner? Or do you go with the flow? There are many days where I wish I could go with the flow and be more spontaneous - but for the most part - my life is lists. Theres a weekly menu plan on my fridge, a calendar filled with playdates and catch-ups, shopping lists, and daily to-dos. ... One area Im glad Im a planner is my finances. I have financial goals, strategies, and a plan to bridge the gap from where I am today to where I want to be in 10 years. If you dont have that clarity on what that destination is its a lot harder to get there. My favourite part about having a plan is breaking it down into steps and removing the overwhelm of a somewhat daunting task. Having a structure makes it very, very simple, and achievable. Whats your plan for your money? If youd like help creating a financial plan - leave a comment or DM me, or just Like if you agree (or feel sorry for my lack of spontaneity!).

25.01.2022 Who’s heard of the All Ordinaries Index? It's mentioned daily in the news, however, most of us have no idea what it’s made up of. The All Ords (abbreviated - All Ordinaries, now we’re on 1st name basis) has 500 of the largest companies of the ASX and makes up 97% of the total value of the share market. ... The remaining 3% of the share market in Australia accounts for the other approx 1,600 companies which are ‘speculative’ stocks and companies. Stocks, equities, shares, what are they? They’re actually all the same thing and mean you’ve bought a share in the ownership of a company. In this month's TALKING MONEY newsletter, I'll be sharing the basics of understanding shares. Learning leads to earning .....

25.01.2022 Over 1 million Australians have registered with the ATO to withdraw their super. We get that for some people this is their only financial option, however if you can avoid taking funds from your super (ie your future/ retired-self) it will mean your retirement savings has time to recover and grow. With markets being at a low level, if you have cash and accumulating super is one of your wealth creation strategies - now is a great time to be making contributions. #superannuation #contributions #financialtipfriday #kareneley #womentalkingfinance

22.01.2022 What small steps can you take to increase your financial confidence? Book into a Money Workshop, listen to a podcast, read a book, spend an hour reviewing your bank statements, super, or insurances. You are what you do, not what you wish.

21.01.2022 People lose more money over their lifetime, from the financial decisions they make, than they do from any market correction or crisis. Our financial decisions and behaviours are SO important. Unfortunately, many of us dont truly understand what drives our financial decisions and money behaviours. When it comes to money, do your decisions come from a place of emotion or rationality ? ... Asking yourself this question can assist in making better financial decisions. Neuroscience has proven there are three parts to our brain, simply stated, they are our thinking, emotional and primitive brains. Most of us use our emotional brain function when making money decisions, which can lead us to managing our money in unresourceful ways. If youd like to understand what drives your money decisions and behaviours, take our complimentary Money Type Quiz here https://buff.ly/2MFkMDP

19.01.2022 Enjoyed contributing to the Money Magazine this week on the trap of putting too much money in your home vs investing for your financial future. Our emotions are not financial decision-making tools.

18.01.2022 If youve had a change to your employment status recently ie. reduced hours or moved to a casual basis, please review your Income Protection insurance coverage, particularly if its in your Super Fund. This article explains why.

18.01.2022 As humans, we all (yes, everyone) have a natural impulse to compare ourselves to others it’s deeply rooted in the psychology of all of us. Don't beat yourself up about it, it's natural. It’s called ‘relative deprivation’ and with money, it plays out by having the perception you are financially worse off or don’t have as many ‘things’ as the people you compare yourself to. The problem with comparison is that it takes away our joy, leading to negative emotions like frustrat...ion, lack, and unhappiness. Become aware of this natural instinct and when your automatic thinking goes to comparison to others, turn it into gratitude and appreciation for what you already have - it's a happier way to live :)

18.01.2022 Today is the first day of the 2020-21 Financial Year Looking back over the past 6 or 12 months .... What money wins from last year do you want to celebrate and acknowledge? 17.01.2022 And THIS is why we invest - compound interest, Ladies. Your money makes money! Waiting until next year, next birthday, next pay rise or when you think you'll have more money, will COST you. ... The longer your money has time to invest, the more money you will grow. Be Renee, not Amanda. If it's too late to be Renee, still start today. Its the next best time to begin. An extra 15 years invested earns $68,900 more money for the same amount of savings. Results are based on using a 7%p.a earning rate.

17.01.2022 If you've observed kids, they ask a tonne (as a parent, I might go far as to say toooo many) of questions... this allows them to grow, learn, and expand. For adults to do the same, we need to be asking ourselves questions that help us uncover the challenges we face and generate better solutions. As a Financial Coach, I ask clients many questions and I've shared a few in my latest blog. Read it here:

05.01.2022 Our good friend, Warren Buffett (he’s just one of the most successful investors in the world) shares 5 Personal-Finance Habits of Wealthy Entrepreneurs. These financial habits are a ‘must’ to creating wealth. 1. Create a motivating list of money goals... - Have clear-cut money goals, write them down, review them daily. 2. Devise an action plan for spending and saving - Track your money and identify your spending patterns, then find ways to reduce them. 3. Diversify risk by generating new income streams - Have at least 3 sources of income (think your salary, side-hustle, rental income & dividends or interest) 4. Invest to create passive income - Where does your extra money go after you’ve paid your expenses? Regularly add money to a long-term investment and benefit from compound interest. 5. Stay aware of the market - Stay up to date on what’s happening in the market that will affect your investments, so you can take timely action. Take control of your money. 04.01.2022 Too often in life, our greatest obstacle is ourselves. Self-sabotaging behaviours (think over-spending, avoidance, debt stress, under-earning, under-valuing ourselves, not saving or investing) prevent us from achieving wealth, success, and the happiness we want in our lives. Many of us carry enough baggage to be named Samsonite. We just dont know how to get it off our backs.... Heres 6 starting tips to get out of your own way: 1. Face the issue you have head-on - if you have debt, know exactly how much it is and what its costing you, if you overspend, find out exactly where it is going and how much youre wasting, if youre worried you dont have enough super, find out exactly how much you have, how much you need, and what the gap is. Youre blocked because youre in denial get awareness. 2. Write down all your fears get them out of your head and on to paper. Are they perceived or real fears? Most of the time we just make them up or catastrophise them to be greater than reality. 3. Treat the cause, not the symptoms. If youre procrastinating, suffer financial anxiety or money shame, dig deeper to find out why. We all have money scripts that we play over and over. Uncover what they really are, as awareness of those beliefs is your way out. 4. Spend time with people who have already accomplished the things you want to do. Model their behaviours, traits and characteristics. 5. Acknowledge and celebrate what you have already achieved in life. We dont spend enough time thinking about the great things weve already accomplished. Doing this reminds you, you are capable and handle whatever comes your way. 6. Keep your promises to yourself. I bet you always do what you say youre going to do for a friend. What about yourself ? do you do what you tell yourself youre going to do, or do you regularly let yourself down? If youre waiting for a sign, this is it. If you are waiting for someone to help you, save you, or do it for you, take a breath and look in the mirror. YOU are your rescue.

01.01.2022 Why am I posting lemon cheesecake? keep reading.. It might come as a surprise to you..... but I never particularly enjoyed managing my money... checking bank statements, general financial admin ... and especially, keeping tax records.... So, I get for many of you managing money is tedious and zzzzz. Unfortunately, it’s an important part of life (and being an adult), so for those of you who need a bit of motivation, how about gamifying your money. Managing money will be more motivating, dare I say, enjoyable when you gamify it. The human brain loves the reward of games. So, if you can incorporate a game into your money, and keep using it, we humans are more likely to come back to it again and again because we like the mental reward. My reward involves something from the bakery... sitting close by on a plate, waiting for when I finish what I promised myself to do = lemon tart and a cup of tea It kind of reminds me of the cat treats I feed my pets to reward them for doing what I’ve asked them to do, but hey it works! Options for gamifying your money goals and chores are only limited by your imagination and creativity. You can design your own game... create a challenge or money missions... adopt a theme song while you’re working on it, compete with friends, family, or co-workers. If you have a reward or treat (or bragging rights) to look forward to... you’ll trick your brain into enjoying tracking/saving/learning [insert your money rub here]. To get you focused and energized, why not bring some gaming or reward tactics into your financial life. Schedule them into your calendar on a regular basis, this will ... drive action and progress gain control feel good Would love to hear, what are your money-motivation methods?

01.01.2022 To us, financial wellbeing is having a sense of security and feeling like you have enough money to meet your needs and wants. Its being in control of your day-to-day finances and having the financial freedom to make choices as to how you live your life.
