Tanya Mischler (Change Agent & Volunteer, Y Victoria) and Melinda Crole (CEO, Y Australia) will co-host a chance for you to hear from and chat to Carlos Sanvee and Patricia Pelton. The discussion will focus on the effects COVID-19 has had on the global Y, the importance of listening to youth voice in the recovery process and how to reimagine the Y in a COVID normal world. Looking into the themes of resilience, recovery and reimaging of the Y across the world, we welcome you to this exciting session. 15.01.2022 YMCA history of the Red Poppy - 102 years ago, Moina Michael, who worked for the American YMCA, read Lieutenant Colonel McCrae's poem just before the Armistice and was so moved by it that she wrote a poem in reply and decided to wear a red poppy. At a meeting of YMCA secretaries, held in November 1918, she talked about the poem and her poppies, and Anna Guérin, the French YMCA secretary, started selling poppies to raise money for widows, orphans, and needy veterans and their... families. We Shall Keep the Faith by Moina Michael, November 1918 Oh! you who sleep in Flanders Fields, Sleep sweet - to rise anew! We caught the torch you threw And holding high, we keep the Faith With All who died. We cherish, too, the poppy red That grows on fields where valor led; It seems to signal to the skies That blood of heroes never dies, But lends a lustre to the red Of the flower that blooms above the dead In Flanders Fields.
