25.01.2022 Forfeits are some times unavoidable. However nothing is more annoying than an un-notified forfeit. Please be courteous and tell your club as soon as you know you game is going to be a no show. Unnotified forfeits carry a $40 fine!!. NOTE The official avenue to do this is a phone call or text message to our competition organiser Pat Kemp on 0415 976 821 (usually via your club). Make sure you state your full team name, grade, game time and ideally the opposition. PS ... Every club has juniors dying for a 2nd game. Early consultation with your club can usually result in some eager fill in players. :) See more

25.01.2022 AUSSIE HOOPS*** You should have all recieved an email a couple days ago in regards to the Whyalla Basketball Carnival being on this weekend, so there will be on Aussie Hoops. Thank you and see you all next weekend

24.01.2022 Saturday Morning: Obviously this game that was scheduled for November 2021 is mistake, it should be 2020, this weekend Saturday Nov 7. Its now been corrected Still Not sure how that happened

24.01.2022 Earlier in the week we had requests from almost every U16G team to move games due to school camps this next week. Due to the advanced notice the following games have been changed to accommodate this. Please make sure your team mates are aware of this change.

23.01.2022 Patrons are reminded as a licensed venue Alcohol can not be brought onto our premises. For their own safety Intoxicated players are not permitted to take the court. Seems some ladies got a bit carried away with their mad Monday Netball celebration this week.

20.01.2022 There's no excuse to be bored in the holidays. This basketball clinic for children of all ages and abilities starts tomorrow. Follow the instructions to register today to ensure you don't miss out!

20.01.2022 Just a friendly reminder that the below area is set aside for WBA personnel parking only, if you are found parking in this area you will be requested to move your vehicle to the public parking area.

19.01.2022 WBA Official Junior Free Throw Lines: NOTE: Some interpretation is required on crt 1 as the sponsor signage runs the opposite way. The problem at this moment is consistency with which foul line to use in the modified U10's competition. In U10's Each team is granted half time free throw shots for every player. This is designed to give every child regardless of their, age, size or ability a legitimate chance to score. It is not uncommon for officials or coaches to sneak... some little tackers up closer to the ring for them to get the opportunity to score their first ever goal or often their 1st shot the game. This seems harmless especially considering that this competition is supposed to be non competitive and doesn't play for premiership points. However it often creates cries of bias or unfairness from parents or coaches on the opposition team. SO, For consistency in U10's: All half time shots shall be taken from the no charge circle arc. All game situation Free throws/foul shots shall be taken from the official foul line regardless of ability. See more

17.01.2022 Just a reminder that AUSSIE HOOPS starts back this Saturday morning at 9am, please try to be there 10 minute prior to starting time. We will be situated on courts 2 and 3. Remember to bring your child's basketball and drink bottle and if you have ordered a pack they shouldn't be far away! Looking forward to seeing some new faces Kylie Clothier

16.01.2022 There is a rumour going around that one of the hardest working blokes (and one of the longest serving) for the WBA turned 50 today. Happy Birthday Hoffy from the WBA exec, committee and I am sure all of our WBA members.

15.01.2022 Second community post for the night; Found on Court 2 bench B from either the 1st or 2nd round. Please see the Games Manger if it’s yours.

14.01.2022 Just confirming that the negotiated request for 2 x WF game timeslots to be changed tonight has been implemented.

13.01.2022 WBA exec met this afternoon to discuss our current season. At this stage, pending necessary emergency declaration approvals we will be returning to play on Tuesday December 1. We will resume as per existing schedule (resuming playing games scheduled for Tuesday December 1) for all grades except Women’s C grade, this grade needing to be played in original scheduled order to allow for grade splitting. The games missed over the last two weeks will be played at the back end of the season, extending our season by two weeks with the Grand final day set for Saturday 13 March 2021.

13.01.2022 Courtside Tablet Updates: BA has done some updates in the off season. One major one is that when adding players you don't need to know their DOB just enter their 1st and last name wait a few seconds and it should search and find the player. Games have been running late for the last 2 days due to the amount of players being added to teams courtside which delays the games. please make sure you and any potential makeup players are in your team lists.

12.01.2022 Covid check in tips; If you download and check in through the MySA gov app you don’t have to re-enter you details every time you check in, saves time and congestion at the door. We say this, however if you have a phone as old as our Vice President no amount of help is going to assist.

11.01.2022 The games scheduled for 14-17 Dec are all makeup games caused by school holidays in Jan, Australia day week, Whyalla Junior Carnival and the March junior State champs. There are also some makeups games for those grades that weren't playing the correct number of matches in the minor rnds. Hopefully that clears up the odd scheduling for this week. Remember to notify early if you can't make the rescheduled times to avoid a forfeit penalty.

09.01.2022 Game day by Sports TG Is an app available for your phone to stay up-to-date with your favourite teams and keep an eye on your rivals by accessing the latest match results. Its the easiest way to view your upcoming fixtures, get directions to your next game, and find out where your team sits on the ladder, while you are out and about. If you have multiple players in your family it has a great planner feature to show when your next game is.

09.01.2022 Left at the Pat Kemp Stadium tonight. They are in the games managers office if they are yours.

09.01.2022 A message from the WBA Treasurer; We have received the SAC invoice for all players, clubs have only the next two weeks to request refund for this season. Once the invoice is paid there will be no refunds issued. If you believe you are entitled to a refund please advise your clubs registrar.

09.01.2022 There is a change to the Thursday night roster do to the withdrawal of Bevan's U12 girls team. NOTE: Other grading reviews are being implemented of the next few days.

07.01.2022 Just a friendly reminder to register your child for term 4 of Aussie Hoops! If they are between the ages of 5 and 8 then this is the perfect introduction to basketball! Follow the link below to register!

06.01.2022 Expulsion Clarification: As per SA Country guidelines if you are reported and subsequently suspended you may not enter any BA sanctioned venues for any basketball related reason, eg playing, training, coaching, spectating for the term of that ban. This ban is recognized Australia wide. For example this weekend for the Whyalla Junior carnival at the Rec centre as a BA sanctioned event is being held a suspended member may not attend any games there. They can however go for a... swim at the pool as that is not basketball related. This Clarification is significant as it different to the WBA's interpretation of this process in the past!! NOTE: The WBA have a local bylaw that states any player that receives 2 Technical fouls in a game automatically gets a one 1 match ban, our bylaws class this ban as a suspension thus the above guidelines are enforceable. This particular bylaw has been reviewed recently. All WBA Bylaws are freely available on the WBA website under admin. See more

06.01.2022 Just a reminder, Referee Training: The WBA are hold ing Referee training clinics on Sept27. The WBA are desperate for Refs at the moment with many of senior refs not returning from their Covid break. Its been along time between drinks since we last were able to hold a clinic and with no helpers in this area there is big void in our Ref development program at the moment. Level 0 course will be ran 3pm to 5pm and training for our existing refs 6pm till 8pm... For our level 0 refs please register through the below link https://form.jotform.com/2025681825198654

05.01.2022 It appears that someone has accidentally picked up Sienna Phillips basketball tonight at the stadium and taken it home. Could we ask that if you were out the stadium at either training or Aussie Hoops tonight, could you please check that it hasn’t been picked up in error, thanks.

04.01.2022 Conscious of the Netball Grand finals that are on Saturday morning we have brought a couple games forward into the vacant 9am slot. We will do the same next week to minimise clashing with Football Grand finals. Saturday mornings will run the same as last season with respect to admission. That is players will pay to play from the canteen, there will be no gatekeeper.

03.01.2022 Well the worse case scenario has and is unfolding currently. The Premier has just announced a two week suspension of community sport. We will play our games tonight but that will be it for two weeks, including trainings. Our aim will be to re-gig the schedule to get as many games as possible and try to stay as close to the current schedule as we can. We will keep you informed as things progress. Watch this space
