25.01.2022 Special Announcement: the Easter Bunny will be visiting the centre this week for our Annual Easter Hat Parade and Easter Egg Hunt. Dont forget to post photos of your hats on Family Stories on the Kindyhub app.

24.01.2022 If we understand the learning styles of our little ones, we know how to nurture their growth. This allows us to ease the pressure we apply that stems from our own knowledge of learning and instead, to support the pathways that help them learn best as individuals.

23.01.2022 National Playdough Day Children used coffee granules, cocoa powder, lavender oil, and natural objects such as sticks, flowers, lemon slices and pine cones to make their own creations. This was such a delight to the senses!

23.01.2022 We hope all our fathers enjoyed their special day yesterday, and that you were treated to breakfast in bed and extra hugs and kisses. We also hope you enjoyed playing the noughts and crosses game made by your child especially for you

23.01.2022 Starting off Science Week with an exploration of bugs and insects in our Caterpillar Room today. Our under 2s spent some time last week investigating flies after capturing one in their room. This week well look at ecosystems and life cycles to further explore this interest.

20.01.2022 An article about how Bluey teaches children the importance of play and imagination, and how we can connect this to our COVID experiences https://www.newyorker.com//bluey-the-coronavirus-and-the-w

19.01.2022 One little Caterpillar discovering play dough for the first time. Play dough is great at developing childrens hand muscle strength which is needed later on for so many prewriting skills - using scissors, handwriting grip, and fine motor skills.

19.01.2022 Understanding our childrens personalities and behaviours

19.01.2022 The morning sunshine in our Caterpillar Room allows us to explore the relationship between light and mirrors with objects of different transparencies.

19.01.2022 We are always integrating important topics into childrens play. Healthy foods VS sometimes foods is a topic often revisited to pass on the message that we eat everything in moderation, and sometimes foods are not items we can eat all the time as they have adverse affects on our body. Offering children these items to play with allows us to discuss these ideas with children while they play.

18.01.2022 Researching insects through visual and written mediums. Providing children with more than one way of learning about a subject allows for more interaction with a topic.

17.01.2022 Discovering endangered species in the Butterfly room this week. Weve been learning about the Sumatran Tiger, Polar Bears, White Pandas, and our environmental impact on endangered sea creatures.

17.01.2022 Last week our educators and management team underwent Infection Control Training COVID-19 by NSW Health. This is just one of our commitments to ensuring your childs health and safety is upheld at Widgets. It is our top priority to ensure the safety of our families and staff during this period.

17.01.2022 We are touched by the kind gestures shown by our families during this difficult time. The Governments reshuffle of funds has meant that services are receiving 40% or less in revenue every week. While we are all experiencing financial hardship at the same time, a number of our families have reached out to support us. We are amazed that we have families asking to continue to pay fees, even in the event of a lock down, so that we are able to reopen and care for their children. ...Families have offered to provide nappies or meals to supply resources to the centre. We will continue to provide the high quality service Widgets is known for, but wont forget these offers that have truly touched our hearts. We received this beautiful fresh fruit delivery today, organised by the Pine family. Thank you for such a heartfelt gesture. We are blessed to have your family become a part of ours!

12.01.2022 Child Protection Week is an important time for us to think about the knowledge we pass on to our children about Body Safety. Empowering a child to know their rights and how to deal with someone who makes them uncomfortable sets them up with confidence when dealing with others. 09.01.2022 R U OK Day A day to reach out to those around us. On behalf of the team at Widgets, R U OK?

09.01.2022 Our little Caterpillars exploring emotions

09.01.2022 We are so proud of what our team has achieved through these trying times. Our newly renovated rooms offer calm and inviting learning environments for our children to explore. Thank you to Skylahs father Paolo, and Makayla and Claires father Jack, who gave up their time after work on several occasions to set up all these furniture pieces for us. With our families keeping Covid-safe and continuing to drop off and pick up at our front door, we thought wed share with you what your children are enjoying every day. We thank you for your ongoing support that makes achievements like this possible.

09.01.2022 The Power of Role Play Who will I be today? Did you know that role play is proven to enhance a childs literacy skills at a young age? There are many university research papers that support this, and its one of the reasons why there are many role play areas in child care settings. Children use different vocabulary when role playing different personas and this translates to their written language later on. Other skills this teaches children include imagination, collaboration ...with others, storytelling, and social development. Besides this, children love it!

07.01.2022 - Seeing learning through a child's eyes - One of our Butterfly children perfectly captured the learning taking place today. While her friends planted some new seedlings with their educators, she was given the iPad to capture her friends at work. Children's autonomy is both respected and encouraged, as their voice informs our program.

06.01.2022 Developing our cognitive thinking through patterns and sequences using recycled yoghurt lids.

06.01.2022 Patterns and sequences challenge cognitive thinking and are the foundation of mathematical skills in early primary years. We used recycled yoghurt lids in an effort to be sustainable. You can use items at home to replicate this popular classroom activity.

06.01.2022 Pet Week We have had so much fun meeting some of our friends' pets this week. Thank you to the families who made the time to bring them in for us to meet. We've also been learning about the care animals need in our classrooms. Our Caterpillars have experienced caring for a different pet each day this week by feeding and tending to their needs, while our Butterflies have enjoyed some dramatic role play in their Veterinary hospital.

04.01.2022 During this time of uncertainty, children may feed into our emotions of confusion and worry. They listen to our conversations at home and they often watch the news with us. Here is a great resource we have available in our foyer today, for you to share and discuss with your child in case they are feeling similar emotions. Its important for us to stay aware but calm, without feeding the hype and panic. Please share this with anyone you know who is having similar discussions with their young children. https://www.mindheart.co/descargables

04.01.2022 Using recycled materials, we created a windchime to keep track of windy weather outdoors. Our youngest and oldest children collaborated on this together, making it a feature that stops many children in their tracks daily.

03.01.2022 We are all in this together
