23.01.2022 Recently the children constructed a robot using recycled materials. To extend on their interest, we decided it would be fun to build a robot from deconstructed electrical items. Deconstruction is something the children really enjoy, and it gives them the opportunity to work collaboratively. It will be interesting to see our completed robot, we will keep you up to date with its progress.

22.01.2022 Yesterday we had an afternoon of physical activity. Some of the children played games of soccer, whilst others competed in games of ninja warriors. Physical activity his good for children as it strengthens bones, muscles hearts and lungs. It improves co ordination, posture and and flexibility.

21.01.2022 This afternoon the children had the opportunity to participate in an obstacle course they constructed on the oval. When children encounter an obstacle course, they develop and enhance strength and balance. The strength and balance skills developed on an obstacle course transfer effectively to other sports like soccer or gymnastics. The children enjoyed their participation in the course, even Miss Steph had a turn.

21.01.2022 Last week we celebrated NAIDOC week. The children had the opportunity to taste traditional Indigenous food by trying some Kangaroo. Whilst trying the Kangaroo, the children learnt how Kangaroo was traditionally cooked over hot coals. We also played some Indigenous ball games in our outdoor environment.

19.01.2022 Recently the children participated in a game of Disney charades. They enjoyed this so much, that we extended on it by leaving a charade game on the table for them to discover. Once discovered the fun began. It was such a pleasure to see every child participating and we all loved Julie's rendition of a lamp post.

18.01.2022 As the children have shown such an interest in playing basket ball masters, which is a one on one game, Julie planned a half court challenge. The children were divided into two teams and given tags to identify each side. During the game, they were able to learn new skills, and the different rules that apply to team basket ball.

17.01.2022 Over the last few days, the children have been experimenting making different types of slime. After researching, they decided an edible slime sounded interesting and asked if this was something they could make. We decided that Chia seed slime fitted our criteria so we went ahead with this. The children were eager to make the slime and also taste it.

16.01.2022 Teaching children about sustainable practices is something we love to do here at Wiggles and Giggles. It is always a great idea to make this process fun, as children learn more if they find an activity interesting. Today we provided them the opportunity to let their imagination run wild, as they made their own creations using recycled materials. Recycling us central to sustainability because it helps save materials that can be reused from ending up in landfills.

16.01.2022 2020 to say the least , has been a very challenging time due to the Covid 19 virus. We often have discussions with the children on the importance of hand washing and the reasons why it is so important at present. To give the children a better understanding of how easily germs are spread, we did a little experience with the children. As the children's names were marked off the roll in the afternoon they were given a certain coloured sticker. If they touched each other at any stage or were to close to each other, they were given the coloured sticker of the person they came in contact with. By the end of the afternoon, many of the children showed how easily germs are transferred to each other.

14.01.2022 1..2..3....Roll. Friday afternoon, our physical fitness challenge was determined with the roll of our new fitness dice. The children were eager to participate in the challenge, chasing down the dice with each roll. I would have to say that the supermans were the favourite exercise along with the plank challenge won by Jack with a 4minute 10sec time. Well done

13.01.2022 Yesterday the children celebrated the month of Winter with their school Winter Disco. I must say that looked rather dashing in their fancy attire.

13.01.2022 Congratulations to our morning crew who recently filled their marble reward jar. For those of you not familiar with our marble system, the children are rewarded for positive actions, by placing marbles into a glass jar. Once the jar is full, they vote on a resource to purchase for their centre. Our morning children, who are very creative, chose art resources, of pastels and charcoal pencils. They are really creating some beautiful pieces of work.

12.01.2022 Today some of the children constructed ANZ Stadium. The stadium contained grandstands, goal posts, Lego players and spectators. Engineering at its best.

09.01.2022 Recently our weather has been very unpredictable with many storms happening in our area. Some of the children showed a great interest in the storms, watching them, and discussing the types of storms we were experiencing. To extend on this interest we learnt about rain clouds and how they are formed, and why storms create thunder and lightening. We had the opportunity to make cloud dough, snow, rain clouds and our own storm from craft materials.

As you can imagine she has been a part of so many children's lives, and has formed special bonds with so many families. We wish Annette every best wish, she will be missed.
