24.01.2022 This is Gridserves Electric Forecourt. Sustainable, reliable, generating income and savings. Another step towards the end of IC engines. They even plant trees as part of their business plan. Absolutely brilliant. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FoN4WCpuxHY

18.01.2022 An interesting climate summary.

17.01.2022 Each year normal processes swirl the arctic sea ice clockwise. Unfortunately the added heat waves, warmer winds and water, have contributed to reducing old ice aged 4+ years. Aged ice is what keeps the polar cap intact. It’s not meant to disappear as fast as it has. Watch it retreat in the summer of 2007, again in 2012, and look at what’s left in 2019 (it’s the white mass, the grey represents annual growth and melt). This loss is a huge factor contributing to extreme heat, cold snaps, and more violent storms globally. A worrying trend.

15.01.2022 A great bedtime story for all.

14.01.2022 Amongst the global zoonotic crisis, here is a reminder about climate change. Populations of people, animals and our environment are under pressure.

13.01.2022 Tasmania’s widest tree - found and now protected from ‘sustainable logging’. We are very fortunate that this tree wasn’t logged. https://www.tasmaniantimes.com//tasmanias-widest-tree-di/

13.01.2022 Last year Darek and Beth did the City2Surf to raise funds for OFI Australia. To help support the protection of orangutans and their forest habitat. This year, due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, they are swapping their sneakers for cameras as they commit to a virtual fundraiser through a bird survey of their local area. Please support them to reach their funding target

12.01.2022 An interesting use of images to highlight population decline of threatened species. https://www.boredpanda.com/endagered-animals-pixels-extinc/

07.01.2022 At 93, Sir David Attenborough doesn’t have much time left. And yet he is still pleading to humanity to change our selfish, consumeristic ways for the sake of our living planet. Sadly whilst his generation failed, future generations can make that difference. Ask yourself - what have you done to make the change for life? And what more can you do? https://www.express.co.uk//david-attenborough-bbc-document

05.01.2022 Such wonderful and tasty news. 100% palm oil free. Well done Darrell Lea. Enjoy https://youtu.be/MT8PVWoJWo4

04.01.2022 Now this is cool. A miniature marsupial lion fossil discovered in Queensland, Australia. https://mobile.abc.net.au//australian-lion-disco/12007324

01.01.2022 Moo blues - study finds cows express their feelings to each other. This has implications upon farming practices, potential to improve animal welfare, and consideration to be given to other species that likely do the same. The reality though is that studies like this just confirm what has already been suspected by many people that work with animals.

01.01.2022 The Australian drought is changing feral cat feeding strategies, from hunters to scavengers, in the outback. Showing that feral cats adapt very well to very harsh conditions.

01.01.2022 At a time when many people are in some sort of isolation it’s perhaps a good time to reflect on the situation for displaced orangutans. Orangutan Foundation International Australia have posted a virtual fundraiser to assist orangutans that are isolated from their homes. Some are in isolation for days, others weeks, many for years because of habitat loss and illegal human activity. Many have lost their mothers too. If you’ve ever wanted to contribute to orangutan protection this is a great and fun way to do so. So go online to support then on vine.
